Quaker Weight Control Oatmeal
The back of the Quaker Weight Control Instant Oatmeal box says "maintaining a healthy weight depends on balancing calories consumed and calories used" while the front is all about the "7 grams of protein and 6 grams of fiber." A bit confusing, but since it says NOWHERE ON THE BOX that this cereal will actually help us lose weight - I'm thinking that it doesn't. Let's face it - if it did, I'm pretty sure it would be on the front, back, sides and bottom. It does taste just as good as classic instant Quaker oatmeal, but it was very filling. There just seemed to be a lot more of it -and after doing a bit of research on the internet, I discovered that the regular Quaker instant oatmeal packets contain half the amount of oatmeal (28 grams) than the Weight Control version (45 grams). (I don't know if Quaker has since increased the size of the classic oatmeal to match the Weight Control one since it has been a few months since I have bought oatmeal). Of course, this means that the Weight Control will appear to be more nutritious and more filling - since there is more of it. 1 packet of of Quaker Weight Control Oatmeal (45g) has 160 calories, 3 grams of total fat, 7 grams of protein and 29 grams of total carbohydrates which includes 6g fiber which is 23% of the daily recommended amount and only 1 gram of sugar. One box with 6 packets cost me $2.50. Even though I don't think this product will be making shed more pounds, it does contain heart healthy oats and a good dose of fiber. Comments

Hilary Jean said: Actually, oatmeal in and of itself has really helped me stick with a healthy, balanced diet (not to mention maintain a WAY lower weight than I was before). See, it is really, really filling for a relatively small amount of calories. However, any oatmeal will do this for you as long as it isn't sugary, loaded with added crap like butter, cream, or milk, and eaten in small enough portions--like the weight loss kind or whatever it's called you're talking about. ^_^

Cynthia said: The real bonus is in the lower carbs and sugar. I find it a good alternative for those of us who are watching carbs and sugar grams. Interestingly, though, the Quaker Weight Control Instant Oatmeal has fewer carbs and less sugar than the Quaker Lower Sugar Instant Oatmeal. So go figure!

Michelle said: This oatmeal really fills me up, and I stay full until it is time for lunch. I work in an office, and it keeps me from digging into the office candy jar. It also tastes good. I like the Maple & Brown sugar flavor. I like the fact it's low in calories and sugar, and high in fiber and protein. I have been using this product as part of a healthy diet, and I have lost 8 pounds so far.

Regardless, the banana flavor is so yummy. I find these packets more addictive than anything else.
