Lean Cuisine Chicken Chow Mein

Lean Cuisine was on sale last week at 3 for $5.00 so you know I picked up a lot of my old favorites, and took up some that I haven't tried as yet, like Lean Cuisine's Chicken Chow Mein. The description says this meal has "tender roasted chicken in a traditional soy seasoned sauce with celery, water chestnuts, carrots, spinach red peppers and bean sprouts accompanied by long grain white rice." While the description sounds great - I think it is actually much better than the meal itself.

The portion size seemed rather small. I had it for lunch and it didn't seem very filling at all! The taste was good, with a few chunks of chicken which was well complemented by the salty soy sauce - but there was way too much sauce. I felt like the rice and vegetables were drowning in it. Lean Cuisine has a lot of frozen meals which I absolutely love, and this is probably one of my least favorites.

There is only 210 calories per meal, 3 grams of total fat and 0.5 grams of saturated fat, which are both about 5% of the recommended daily amount, a whopping 26% of the RDA from sodium (630 mg), 13 grams of protein and 33 grams of total carbohydrates which includes 4 grams of sugars and 2 grams of fiber (8% of the RDA). In addition, there is 45% of the RDA for vitamin A from this meal and count 4 Weight Watchers points.

So while the nutrition is definitely excellent and the meal is chock full of veggies, I probably won't be buying this again because it is not very filling.

The thing that appeals to me most in this item is the calorie count! 210 is a great deal - I just hope its accurate!
