Kashi Tasty Little Cookies: Happy Trail Mix

You should all know that Kashi is one of my favorite brands because they always have high quality ingredients and they are usually wholesome with a focus on being healthier than most. So when they put out a cookie - one of the most not-so-nutritious products out there - I wasn't too thrilled about it. I thought - leave that to Oreos and those guys! But after giving it further thought, I had to applaud Kashi for trying to make one of the most ... not-so-nutritious products ... a little healthier. A healthier cookie - can it be done?

I tried the Kashi TLC Happy Trail Mix Cookie and I loved it! It was chewy and I could taste all oats and other grains that Kashi uses (7 whole grains), along with walnuts, raisins and cranberries. It wasn't as sweet as I was expecting, but it was still very, very good.

This cookie was tasty and I can honestly say it seemed like it was rich in ingredients, but I did not like the fact that there were 130 calories in 1 cookie. But at least the calories are all from healthy natural ingredients, so I'm not too mad. I take one cookie with me and have it as an after-lunch snack - and the cookie is bog and thick (about 2.5 inches in diameter and half an inch thick).

In addition to 130 calories, each cookie also has 5 grams of total fat and 1 gram of saturated fat, which are 8% and 5% of the recommended daily amount (no trans fat), 2 grams of protein and 21 grams total carbohydrates which includes 14% of your daily fiber recommendations (4 grams) and 7 grams of sugars.

I also think this is a great snack for kids - better than some of the cookies they are eating these days. I bought a box which has 8 cookies for $2.50 and it was well worth it!

I must say that the trailmix was my least favorite. My fav was the dark choco chip, but the oatmeal raisin is also very good.

I can't speak for the other flavors, but I just tried the dark chocolate chip and they are amaaaazing.

I got some of the chocolate chip ones. They're really good. I'm going to keep buying them for sure =D

I would like to find out where to buy TLC cookies. I bought them in Giant and Safeway, but they have disappeared from the shelves. Can you let me know?
