Ball Park Bun Size Smoked White Turkey Franks

Ball Park Turkey Franks The good news about Ball Park Bun Size Smoked White Turkey Franks is that one turkey dog contains just 45 calories, no fat, 6 grams of protein, 5 grams total carbohydrates including 3 grams of sugars, but 18% of the recommended daily amount of sodium (420 mg). Compare that to the regular Ball Park franks that I had to put in diettrash [read it] with 180 calories each, 150 of which is from fat.

Now the bad news: the taste. It has a very salty taste, and that was the only flavor to it. I tried it on two different occasions just to make sure, and both times it was the same result. I know the folks over at hungry-girl liked them [link], but there are vegetarian 'meatless' hot dogs that taste better than this, like MorningStar Farms Veggie Dogs that has 80 calories per dog.

One pack of 8 costs $3.99 which is a little more expensive than regular weiners. Regardless, I don't think I will be buying this again, instead I would go with MorningStar Farms Veggie Dogs, and since we are on the topic of MStar, don't forget about their Veggie Corn Dogs which I absolutely love!

I don't like these hot dogs at all. Ia gree that they taste incredibly salty. They make me feel like I'm retaining an ocean of water.

hungry girl has some great tips but a lot of the products that she suggests taste sick. thanks for this review.

Thanks for the comments and I'm happy that somebody else tries them and agrees with me :0)

My husband actually just brought some of these home for me the other day. Im not one to judge salt as I like it, but I really did like these. To me the tasted exactly like smoked turkey you buy sliced for sandwiches! Much better than the creamy gross after taste of most ff hotdogs.

These are delicious. The key is to buy fresh buns. I use Martins Potato Long rolls (130 calories vs most buns that have 110 calories) which are for hotdogs. I put some chopped up vidalla onion on it and it is terrific. The only downside is the sodium content which is a bit high but a couple dogs a day will not hurt you. They are very nutritious and you can reseal the package to keep it fresh if you don't want to eat them all at once. I will not go near beef hotdogs of any kind. I've tried other brands of turkey hot dogs and didn't like them, only this brand did I like.
