Post Selects Banana Nut Crunch Cereal

Banana Nut Crunch Cereal Post Selects Banana Nut Crunch cereal is made from whole grain and whole oats. It's also, "inspired by the taste of home-baked banana nut bread." I liked this cereal. It was very crispy and didn't get soggy in the milk. There are also lots of walnut chunks in the cereal that adds to the crunch, so you better like walnuts if you are going to eat this. I didn't get an immediate banana flavor, but over time, the flavor started to develop, and in fact, I felt like it left a slight banana after taste behind.

One cup of Post Selects Banana Nut Crunch Cereal is 240 calories, 6 grams of total fat, 0.5 grams of saturated fat, 10% of the daily requirement of sodium, 12 grams of sugar and 4 grams of fiber which is 16% of the daily requirement. There is also 10-25% of many many vitamins and minerals, and a whopping 90% for iron.

Nature's Promise Cereal That's a lot of calories in 1 cup of cereal. Compare it to another whole grain cereal, Natures Promise Honey Whole Grain, which only has 137 calories in 1 cup, in addition to 40% for fibers' daily requirement and the same 12 grams of sugar. That's less calories in Natures Promise and 4x more fiber.

Post Selects Banana Nut Crunch Cereal costs $4.39 when not on sale, but I have seen "buy one get one free" offers on Post Selects cereal many times. While this is not a bad cereal, if I had a choice, I would go for a whole grain cereal with less calories per cup.

Another reason to skimp on the Post selects is that it contains partially hydrogenated oil/Trans fat. They might say they have no trans fat, but that only means it has .5 grams or less. If you eat more than one serving you can end up eating more trans fat than you should be.

I love banana nut crunch! My grandma fed this to my cousins and I when we were really little and stayed at her house... We also had contests to see who could eat the most fried dough (8 pieces-record high haha) so that gives you insight into our wonderfull nutrition. I'm afraid to buy this, Because it's a very special occasions cereal, especially withsome as low as 70 calories a cup. My advise: if you really love a cereal, pre mix it with a really low calorie cereal (plain cheerios, corn flakes, kashi seven whole grain puffs)
