Special K Bar

Kelloggs Special K Bar I think Kellogg's has had a genius marketing strategy by coming out with a diet involving it's Special K cereal. Not only have they involved cereal, but they are now making snacks to go along with it. The Special K Bar is one of the two snacks launched (so far) by Kelloggs /Special K. The other is the Special K Snack Bites previously reviewed [link]. I really enjoyed this bar and wholeheartedly give it two thumbs up 2 thumbs up. I tried the strawberry flavor. The bar looks and tastes like most other cereal /breakfast bars, thick, crispy, has icing on the top and has a fruity taste but is not very sweet.

When I saw the icing on top, I thought to myself that this probably has a lot of sugar, but I was pleasantly surprised to find out that each bar has 90 calories, 1.5 grams of total fat, 1 gram of saturated fat, 1 gram of protein and 18 grams total carbohydrate which includes 9 grams of sugar and 1 gram of fiber. I don't think 9 grams of sugar is too much, but some people might. There is also 10% of a few vitamins in there as well.

The nutrition and taste make the Special K bar among the best reviewed. This bar is just as good in taste as the almost 5 kiss rated South Beach High Protein Cereal Bar, but had almost half as many calories and much less fat - also not much protein either. However, the Special K bar has a little more sugar and nowhere near as many vitamins as the Pria Power Bar, which I also really liked [read the review].

I found it a bit amusing that the ingredients for the strawberry bar included "strawberry flavored fruit pieces" and the fruit pieces were actually cranberry. Nevertheless, I really liked these bars, and for about $3.00 a box (with 6 bars), I think I will be buying this again.

WestSoy? - Soy Slender, Chocolate flavored - soymilk sweetened with Splenda? No Calorie Sweetener is THE BEST soy milk in the market. The taste is great and doesn't leave an after taste like other soy or low fat milks. Also is only 70 calories/cup.

Nah.... Kellogg's is bad... all their foods are filled with High Fructose Corn Syrup... They should ban this substance from the face of the Earth, for our own good.

also contains small amounts of hydrogenated oil, although not enough to count as trans fat.

I recently tried the chocolate Special K bars-- wow! They're sweet with just a bit of chocolate icing on top and really satisfy! I'll have to check out the strawberry ones soon!
