Special K Strawberry Snack Bites

Kelloggs Snack Bites Kellogg' s has heavily promoted it's Special K challenge: Replace 2 meals with a serving of one of the Special K cereals and fruit. You are also allowed snacks and Kellogg's wants to handle that too, so they recently introduced the Special K Snack Bites. The Snack Bites are packaged in individual pouches which "feature clusters of lightly textured, multi-grain Special K cereal with a touch of vanilla or strawberry flavors."

I tried the Strawberry Snack Bites and I thought they were like a sweet (think cookie type sweetness), crunchy, crispy, thin, bite size cookie /chip. And it also seemed like each and every chip had a piece of strawberry in it too. I wouldn't go so far as to say that they are 'healthy' but if you are trying to reduce your calorie intake, and you have no control (like me) over the amount you will eat, then the convenient '90 calorie' pouches are great, because you know the exact nutrition of what you are eating.

The snack bites come packaged in pouches, 6 in a box, which provides 90 calories, 2 grams of fat, 0.5 grams of saturated fat, 1 gram of protein and 18 grams total carbohydrate which includes 7 grams of sugars and less than 1 gram of fiber. There is also 10-20% of many vitamins and minerals.

There are about 15 snack bites in each pouch, which costs around $3. Even though I liked the Special K snack bites, I LOVED the Honey Maid Thin Crisps Grahams loved it which comes in 100 calorie pouches [read the review]. More filling options for me would include Pepperidge Farm Pumpernickel Snack Sticks and Quaker Rice Snacks. Unfortunately, none of those two options are sweet. For something sweet, I also like Fruit Gushers which is also 90 calories per pouch.

What about the awful aftertaste these leave in your mouth? I can't eat them unless I know I have gum to chew afterwards.

What aftertaste? These are delicious, and I detect no aftertaste in my mouth whatsoever after having eaten a packet of these in strawberry.

I haven't been seeing the Special K Vanilla snack bites anywhere! Are they still making them?

I have to respectfully disagree on the taste thing- I just bought a box of the strawberry flavor, and I think they're kind of gross. They're very very dry, and I feel like I'm chewing on miniature rocks. But I do think they'd be good with a little milk, like cereal.
