This week it is all about Ice cream, after all July is National Ice cream Month. Check out all our Reviews of Ice cream of the low fat variety of course. Try a flavor you haven't tried before.

Diet Trash is about the food products you might eat because you think you're doing something better for your diet, but you'll be surprised to know, they're not.

Diet Trash Thanks to SupermarketGuru.com who nominated this as one of their 'new product misses.' Jif Peanut Butter Jif To Go are single serve cups of peanut butter. They provide that ease of convenience factor that has become really popular lately, but the nutrition facts are abhorrent. Each Jif to Go cup has 390 calories, 32 grams of fat which is 50% of the RDA for total fat and 6 grams of saturated fat, which is 31% of the RDA for saturated fat. I could eat whole meals with less fat than that - and that's just the condiment!

Jif To Go is an absolute no-no.

Peanut butter can be a very healthful snack item. I would rather see people have a peanut butter cup( ideally with some apple slices) for a snack rather then a 3 pack of tastykakes or a .99 bag of corn chips. it is not always just about the numbers- at least not in the real world!

I would totally buy this product. It's a great traveling item with kids. I normally have to pack a jar of peanut butter and that's so big and bulky. Plus, my kids would share one tub to dip their apples in, so they wouldn't be eating a whole one at once.

390 calories is a LOT. Not to mention it's a silly concept all together: how hard is it to take peanut butter somewhere? Get some sauce containers next time you go to a restaurant.
The containers should at least be smaller, like half the size.

those are high-fat, but would be really convenient to take backpacking. when i go backpacking, i usually buy the smallest jar of peanut butter possible, so its easy to pack. when you're exercising all day, the calories and fat won't matter much. if you're sitting on your ass watching MTV, different story.

i love the idea, but i wish the containers were 1/2 or 1/3 of the size smaller, and i wish they would offer this packaging for "Simply Jif." Actually, I sent them an email suggesting that quite awhile ago...haven't heard back...

You can purchase the individual containers online with only 3/4 oz of peanut butter. The site is minimus.biz, and they sell small containers of everything. PB is not inherently bad simply because it contains fat, portion control is the key. The 3/4 oz. container is just right for one apple or 1/2 of a bagel. They travel good too and are great for backpacking.

Alright... I am a CONSTANT dieter and granted, this would not be healthiest snack. Hands down though, I LOVE Peanut Butter on a Banana. I argue though it may be 'almost' easier transferring a small portion of peanut butter into a small sauce cup, consider the spoon you have to lick and having to clean the container out later (not fun). I think I would sooner recycle this prepackaged plastic container... just a thought.
