Edys No Sugar Added Frozen Fruit Bars

Edys Fruit BarsThere is an intense heat wave going on through the Eastern US and it is hot hot hot! I am drinking a lot of water, Snapple White Tea, and these Edy's No Sugar Added Frozen Fruit Bars are the perfect evening "cool me down" treat. Perfect is such a strong definitive statement - but it's not too strong a description for bars that are only 30 calories each. Also, there is no fat, and only 8 grams of total carbohydrates which includes 1 gram of fiber, 2 grams of sugars and 2 grams of sugar alcohols - low carbs. There's not a lot of sugars, and no artificial sweeteners, so the popsicles are not very sweet, but they have a strong taste of the fruit flavors, such as strawberry, tangerine and raspberry, which came in the pack that I bought.

The packaging on the Edy's has quite a few claims and accolades. Of course, the label says "Made with Real Fruit." and "Loaded with Fruit." A check of the ingredients reveals that strawberries is the 2nd ingredient in the strawberry flavored bar, and all the bars use a variety of fruit puree and concentrates. This Edy's product also received the "American Culinary ChefsBest award for best taste" and these bars are "an excellent source of vitamin C" and each bar does have 25% of the daily value of vitamin C.

So if you are buying popsicles for yourself or your kids, get these Edy's bars instead of some others that are made with simply water and high fructose corn syrup. A box of 6 cost $2.50 on sale at Stop and Shop Supermarket (NY), and it's worth every penny. When not on sale, it's about $3.50.

This is going to be in my freezer every summer from now on, along with some of my other Edy's favorites, like Edy's Frozen Coconut Fruit Bars.

You are spot on with Edys fruit bars, I happened to like them as well.
I have heard that a new version could come out in the near future with pieces of actual fruit inside each bar. I am not sure if that will be overkill, but it could be interesting if they do it right.

mmmm yummels! Is it wrong to think a popsicle is sexy? It's summer, it's hot, I can't help it!

I've got two snackie things that I love. One is Jello's sugar-free double-chocolate pudding (the regular chocolate is only tolerable, but I love the double-chocolate.) It's only 60 calories, and it's not only delicious it's pretty filling. Yes, it's not for people who object to artificial sweetener, but I love the stuff.

The other dessert I like a lot is Dannon's Light'N'Fit Yogurt, which is only 40 calories. I'd love to hear what what you think of them.

I don't like these because I don't like fake sugar. I do, however, buy the 100% fruit juice bars for my kids. I get Dreyers/Edy's, and others. We eat so few popsicles, that I prefer to buy the good stuff when it goes on sale than buying frozen kool-aid.

I saw these on sale at the store yesterday (12 for $3.99) after I read your review, so I bought them. They really are fruity and delicious! And at only 30 calories, perfect. I like the smaller size, too: I'm not much of a sweets eater, so it was just enough. Thanks for reviewing this!

Ifitandhealthy: It would be great if they included real fruit - that would make it extra yummy!

Emi: It's not wrong. I think popsicles are indeed sexy!

Alien Squirrel: I reviewed the Dannon Light n Fit. It got 3.5 smackers - I didn't like the aftertaste. I knew somebody would get around to asking me about pudding *yuck* but I'll get on it just for you!

Sylko: I believe I may have to reduce my intake of artificial sweeteners myself soon - I've been having a bit too much lately. But I don't mind 'man made improvements' in my food (I make some of them after all).

Peggasus: I'm glad you liked them. I'm not a big popsicle eater, but these were just the thing on some hot summer nights - with no A/C!
