New Polls about genetically modified ingredients and organic foods

Foodie Polls There are 2 new polls up in the sidebar: What's your take on Organic Foods and Do you care if there are Genetically Modified Ingredients in your foods? Please tell us your opinion. Only one poll at a time is displayed, so you either have to hit refresh to see the other poll, or just come back another time and vote.

My choices were that Organic foods were not really important to me, and I didn't really care about genetically modified ingredients in my food. Is that bad? Maybe. I think my lack of caring about GMI in my foods is due to ignorance on my part, and I will fix that in the near future. As for organic foods, I am not a proponent. I am just not convinced that organic foods are better for me. However, I would like to purchase more local farm grown products, just because I would basically like it to come out of the ground and into my hands. This is what I was used to growing up ... but that is not the same as organically grown, since local farmers can use pesticides etc.

* A little reminder: Current and past polls can always be found on the Voting Booth page [link].

I also voted that I don't care about GM foods, probably due to the same ignorance you mention. I voted that I don't really care about organic, although I do think organic produce is better for you. I just can't justify spending any more than I already do on fruit (at least $20/week). Working in the food industry, I'm not that impressed with organic. We just got certified organic and basically we just use less harsh chemicals, shut off a chemical from our boiler and we can't spray for bugs anymore. I don't see how those things automatically equal "better for you."
