Kashi Black Bean Mango Entree
From start to finish, this meal is all about a combination of different textures and flavors that work well together. The sesame rice pilaf is like rice, but has a bit of a crunch, so does the carrots, but the small pieces of mango add a soft sweet taste. The sweet peppers have their characteristic sweet /tart taste, and then there is a sweet mango sauce mixed in with all the ingredients which offset the sometimes bland taste of the black beans. All of this together works to give great flavor and an enjoyable meal. It was filling enough for lunch, but I had it for dinner and I can't say that I was totally full from just this (I had a small salad with dinner and I was satisfied). Each of the Kashi frozen entrees includes "only the purest ingredients, such as seasonal vegetables and all-natural, lean chicken, with no additives, preservatives or anything artificial." Kashi Black Bean Mango Entree has 340 calories, 8 grams total fat which is 12% of the daily values, but only 1 gram of saturated fat, 430 mg sodium which is 18% of the recommended daily value, 430 mg or 12% potassium, 7 grams of fiber which is 28% of the recommended daily allowance, 11 grams of sugars, 54 grams total carbs and 8 grams of protein. This frozen meal has a lower sodium content than many other frozen dinners and is an excellent source of fiber. There is also 100 and 150% of vitamin C and A. This Kashi entree was $3.50 at the time of purchase which is a bit more expensive than a few of the other brands of 'healthy' frozen entrees, but it's definitely worth it if you want a healthy, natural and convenient meal. There's a review of another Kashi entree over at HeatEatReview.com. Nicole tried the Kashi Southwest Style Chicken and she has good things to say about that too. Comments

Eleanor said: I tried the Lemon Rosemary Chicken from Kashi Frozen Meals. The chicken was tender, the kashi was cooked just right, but the sauce was bland and there were few green vegetables. Next time I'd add some seasoning.

Yuteva said: I have had all the entrees now and I enjoyed them all. The Lime Cilantro Shrimp and the Black Bean Mango were my favorites. Someone mentioned the Shrimp was bland. I found that just a dash of lemon pepper seasoning was a perfect compliment. I could eat these every day and usually do about 3 times a week.

Thanks for the review. I just tried the lime cilantro shrimp dish and was surprisingly unimpressed. The shrimp tasted good, but the rest of the meal- the sauce and the vegetables- was bland. I almost always eat what I make, even if it isn't great- but I couldn't even stomach this! Perhaps I'll have better luck with the black bean mango one. Thanks for the review
