Brown Cow All Natural Low Fat Yogurt

Brown Cow  Yogurt After discovering some online coupons to Brown Cow products [link], I decided to try the Brown Cow Blueberry Yogurt. It is all natural and low fat, so it's supposed to be healthier and diet friendly ... right? Well, I bought comes in an 8 ounce container, which is 200 calories, 2.5 grams of total fat, 1.5 grams of saturated fat, 35 grams total carbs and 33 grams of sugars, along with 35% calcium. This may seem like a lot of calories and sugars, but if it were 6 ounces (I sure hope they sell smaller sizes), it would be 150 calories, which is less than Dannon Fruit Blends, Yoplait Custard Style Thick and Creamy, Horizon Organic and Dannon Activia low fat yogurts. They all have about the same amount of sugars, i.e. too much.

I sampled the blueberry flavor. It was smooth, creamy, and there was plenty of blueberries. There was also plenty of tiny blueberry pits which was slightly annoying, but since you the pits are just a bit grainy, and not big enough so that you have to spit them out - it wasn't too bad. The Brown Cow family uses all natural ingredients, and the farmers "guarantee that there is no artificial growth hormone in their milk." This yogurt was more expensive than many other yogurt brands at $0.89 on sale. I can get my favorite yogurt - still Yoplait Light, for $0.50 for the same 8 ounce container - but if I were to consider yogurts with more sugar then Horizon Organic Lowfat Yogurt would be tops!

Overall, I liked the Brown Cow yogurt, but with so many other inexpensive choices out there, I probably won't be buying this one often.

I LOVE this yogurt! It has a wonderful creamy texture and the taste is first rate. I prefer 8 oz. The smaller ones just don't give me enough food. Two things make this a better brand than your recommended Yopliat: it's organic and they use only small farms, with cow-friendly environments. If the fat is too high for you, simply buy the fat-free.

Brown Cow is my favorite to feed my children. I get the whole milk variety (because they are still very young--three under 5 years old), and I like that it doesn't used processed sugar.
