Michelinas Lean Gourmet Rotini with Prosciutto and Basil
Since Michelina's frozen dinners only cost $1.00, I don't normally expect to find meals with fancy, exotic sounding names like Rotini with Prosciutto. If you are not familiar with those terms, here are some foodie definitions: Rotini is the small, round pasta with 6-spoked wheels (from pasta2go.com). Prosciutto means ham in Italian (Wikipedia). So what Michelina's is giving us is basically pasta (whole wheat too) and ham - all in a kind of milky, creamy sauce.
This meal truly sound gourmet-ish with its fancy sounding name, whole wheat pasta and basil herb seasoning. Sounds like something that should cost more than $1.00 to me. Unfortunately, this was all hype. The pasta was covered in a creamy sauce whose flavor was too bland, and there is way too much of it. The ham or prosciutto is almost non-existent. I saw very few, very tiny pieces. In addition, we all know Michelina's has a small porion size, but eating a small portion of basically plain pasta is just not my idea of lunch or dinner.
There are 260 calories, 6 grams total fat, 2.5 grams of saturated fat, 22% of the daily value of sodium (520 mg), 3 grams of fiber, 7 grams of sugar and 13 grams of protein. This meal is also 5 Weight Watchers points, but don't bother wasting your points on this. Even at only $1.00, I don't think it's worth it - in fact, I only ate half of it and trashed the rest.
