Lean Cuisine Baked Lemon Pepper Fish

Lean Cuisine Fish The Lean Cuisine Baked Lemon Pepper Fish meal has "fan Alaska Pollock fish fillet with lemon pepper breading with broccoli in a cheddar cheese sauce." This meal has both good and bad points for me. The good: the fish was excellent. It was lightly breaded, well seasoned with a mild, but not overly fishy taste. The crust remained slightly crispy even upon microwaving, while the fish was moist and tender. The bad: The fish was ready long before the cheese and broccoli mish-mash, which was actually still frozen when the fish fillet was piping hot. I had to remove the fish and continue microwaving the broccoli. I also thought there was way too much cheese sauce covering the broccoli, which was literally swimming in it. I didn't like the broccoli and cheese stuff at all, and didn't bother eating it.

One serving has 230 calories, 6 grams of fat and 2 grams of saturated fat, which is 10% of the daily value, 760 mg of potassium (22%), 6 grams of sugars and 2 grams of fiber. The packaging says there are only 2 grams net carbs in this, and there are also no preservatives. In addition, you will get 14% of your daily cholesterol from this and 29% of your daily requirement for sodium *yikes! But wait - there's also 10, 20 and 30% of vitamin A, C and calcium.

So the nutrition could be a little better in terms of the sodium, and this is one of the few times I have seen more than 5-10% cholesterol in anything really. I'm also pretty sure that I didn't get any percentage of the vitamins and minerals since I didn't eat any of the broccoli. This meal was $2.50 and if you're a broccoli and cheese fan, you'll probably love it.

The broccoli cheese just looks disgusting. I guess I prefer my vegetables as unadorned as possible. In other news, Lean Cuisine is on sale this week at Giant. I bought two tried and true and two untested items. None involved fish.

I have never liked the idea of eating fish in a microwave meal from the super market. I was right. i wouldn't eat this again.

I cannot find the Lemon Pepper Fish at the Walmarts and Meijers stores we use.
