Diet Trash: Fast Food French Fries

Diet Trash Everybody should know by now that french fries from fast food restaurants are a big diet /unhealthy no-no, i.e. diettrash!. Below is a table that compares some nutrition facts for french fries (small, medium and large) from McDonald's, Burger King, Wendy's, and Arby's *hint* Arby's is last - they are the worst nutritionally!

calories total fat (%) sat. fat (%) trans fat (g) sodium (%)
McDonald's small25020133.56
BK small2302015316
Wendys small2802212.53.511
Arbys small 3383120333
McDonald's medium380312059
Burger King medium36031224.525
Wendys medium 4403218518
Arbys medium 4063720440
McDonald's large 5704730814
BK large 5004330635
Wendys large4903720620
Arbys large 6315735662

So, if you went to Arby's for lunch and chose one of their "Market Frsh Wraps" - let's choose the one with the least calories, which would be the new Arby's Roast Beef Gyro, then you would be getting 541 calories. Add medium french fries at 406 calories, and a medium strawberry milkshake, 498 calories, for a total of 1445 calories for LUNCH! Just the french fries and the sandwich alone are almost 1000 calories. I'm only picking on Arby's because I thought they were better than the rest, but I was very, very wrong. I'm not going to lie to you though. Every now and again, I hit up a fast food spot for some fries. I like McDonald's the best, and I'll go there and just get large fries. I believe in moderation and not depriving myself.

I used to have a bit of a McD french fry addiction despite it giving me a bad stomache ache. I've since given up on them and now am addicted to sushi.

I know that McD's fries are terrible but if I was on death row my last meal would be lobster, mcd's fries, and pecan pie.

I sure wish that America would catch up with some other countries that use oil with low trans fat. Comparatively. At least we could have our fries and not worry so much. I've been eating fries and burgers regularly for lunch for 2 decades...I'm not overweight (pure luck and heredity and a little working out) but I wonder what my arteries look like. LOL. Now that they have decent fast-food salads I've been trying to do that more than the fries and stuff. Sucks gettin' OLD!

How can you claim to eat healthy but not know what edamame is? The Japanese eat some of the healthiest food in the world, you should check out their food.

Mary: I claim nothing! I try to eat healthier than I have in the past and what you see on this site is brutal honesty about the things I am "trying."

I hate McDonald's!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tish, tish, Arby's.

I do love their curly fries. Oh and chicken fingers - dipped in ranch dressing. Viva la heart attack.

It amazes me the calories that can be eaten in one sitting! 1500 calories in one meal is outragious! I think that people are eating way to much fast food. When i was a kid it seemed that fast food was treat for people. Know it seems that it is a staple part of there diet. I live in Australia and we are officially the fattest country in the world. The fast food business is booming here!
