Kashi Organic Promise Autumn Wheat Cereal
My favorite thing about Kashi's Organic Promise Autumn Wheat Cereal is probably the ingredients: Organic whole wheat, organic evaporated cane juice and natural flavors. That's it! The ingredient list for most foods are never that short, and some read like a 10 page manifesto, so I was really surprised and pleased that Kashi just kept it simple with this cereal. Kashi's Wheat Cereal is like most other shredded wheat cereals in appearance. The shredded wheat pieces were soft, and got even softer the more the milk got absorbed, but there isn't too much of a wheaty taste, and it has just a hint of sweetness that makes it taste good, without being too sweet, but enough to satisfy that sweet tooth.
One cup is a serving, which actually left me feeling satisfied, and I added about 3/4 cup of Rice Milk. One serving (of just the shredded wheat) has 190 calories - okay so that's a bit much - but it's from all the wheat that they use, which gives us 45 grams of carbohydrates, but there's only 5 grams of sugar, and a hefty 7 grams of fiber (and that's 24% of the recommended daily allowance). There's also 1 gram of fat, and 5 grams of protein. In terms of vitamins and minerals, there isn't much, only 8% iron.
I already love Kashi for making my favorite cereal, Kashi Go Lean Crunch, and now I have another reason for loving them. Kashi products are never the cheapest, in fact this Wheat Cereal cost about $4.50 for the 17.5 ounce box, but I'm willing to pay more for Kashi products, because I trust them to give me good nutritious products.

Kashi products are insanely cheap at Trader Joe's. If you have one in your area, they're great for that reason alone. :)
Thanks for letting us know Megan. Unfotunately, I don't have a Trader Joes near me :0(
I want to try this! Where did you get it Tanya?
I got these from Kroger grocery stores in the natural foods section.
Thanks so much! I live right down the street from a Kroger! :-)
I got some tonight. It is amazing! The nutrition is good too. Unfortunatly, it is more than twice what I pay for a regular box of cereal, such as Corn Flakes or Wheaties. :-(
