Edys Slow Churned Rocky Road Light Ice Cream
Don't we just have a love/hate relationship with ice cream when we are trying to cut down on some calories?! We love the taste, the smoothness and the creaminess, but hate all the calories and fat that unavoidably comes with it - even when it's supposed to be light, reduced calorie or low fat! Then when companies try to make the light version, many times, it ends up being light on taste! Not so with Edy's Slow Churned Light Ice Cream! I tried the Rocky Road flavor, which is chocolate ice cream with marshmallows and almonds, and ooh, the sweet chocolatey goodness, combined with biting into a small, soft ooey, gooey marshmallow, and then a small sliver of almonds was like a slice of heaven! Edy's - I must have been hiding under a rock all these years, because I just didn't know ice cream could really taste this good!
But, I must stop, because one serving of Edy's Slow Churned Rocky Road Light Ice Creamis only half a cup (which isn't that much) is 120 calories - and this is 1/3 fewer calories than regular ice cream, according to the packaging. Now, 120 calories is not that bad, but heck - I can't eat less than 1 cup of ice cream - so that's 240 calories - and if some of you are really honest - an entire bowl of ice cream might really have 2-3 cups! There's also 4 grams of fat, 2 grams of saturated fat, 12 grams of sugars and 3 grams of proteins [and 6% of vitamin A and calcium]. And Edy's uses all natural flavors.
So really, eating 1/2 cup as a treat for yourself won't do major damage to your diet, and if you're craving some ice cream, then this is an excellent choice!

Yumm-O. I have tried this before. It is so yummy. Problem is, I probably had 3 or 4x the serving size. It's so addicting!
You are SO right! I go on kicks where I crave the same thing over and over again for weeks, and for the last couple of MONTHS it has been Rocky Road ice cream! At first I would eat the Haagen-Daaz or Baskin Robbins, but when I realized I wanted it all the time, I switched to Healthy Choice. After trying that, I decided to try the Edy's...and it is so much better! I don't feel like I'm sacrificing any of the taste or creaminess from even the MOST fattening one (H-D is 300 calories in half a cup!).
Thank you Edy's!!
The only way I can survive ice cream is to measure it out on a scale, in a teeny tiny teacup sized bowl. And then follow it with something with protein in it, fairly soon afterwards, or I'll dig through the rest of the container.
