Atkins Morning Start Triple Berry Breakfast Bar
I never thought there would come a day when I could eat a bar, have some tea and call that breakfast - but that day has come! I'm not trying to fool anybody into thinking this bar is filling - but it's adequate, tastes okay, and even provides you with some nutrients too. But let's start with the taste. The Triple berry Atkins bar definitely had quite a bit of nuts and fruit - albeit dehydrated. You could taste them in every bite. The bar is not too sweet, but there is a bit of a weird 'under taste.' its something that's there but not very noticeable. I don't think this bar can touch my favorite bar, Kashi Trail Mix Granola Bar, in taste.
One bar has 150 calories, 5 grams of fat (8% of recommended daily amounts), 1 gram saturated fat, 1 gram sugar and 12 grams of protein (and 3 grams of impact carbs if you're actually on a low carb diet). This is great as a high protein snack - if you're into that sort of thing. There's also approximately 15% of a few vitamins and minerals. This bar seems more like it should be marketed more as a protein bar than a breakfast bar. I still think I would rather have a bowl of cereal for breakfast, which gives approximately the same amount of calories, than each bar, but this may be good for a snack - instead of chips.
I guess the excellent nutrition, and low carbs make the approximately $4.00 for a box of 5 bars worth it for some Unfortunately, this is too much to spend on 5 bars for me. There are few reviews - all seemingly favorable - for the Apple Crisp flavor over at epinions.com.
