Yogurt Burst Cheerios
But back to reviewing Yogurt Burst Cheerios. Let me make this clear up front, this is a box of Cheerios, and some cheerios coated with yogurt flavor. Don't expect to find yogurt in the box somewhere. In addition to 160 calories in 1 cup of Yogurt Burst cereal, there are 15 grams of sugar, and approximately 3 grams of fiber. Don't forget to add about 40 calories for 1/2 cup of skim milk. There is about a 1 in 10 ratio of yogurt coated Cheerios to regular Cheerios - and that's just a rough guess-timate. I much preferred the taste of this cereal to Cheerios Multigrain which was previously reviewed. Yogurt Burst is much sweeter (maybe even a little too sweet), and I must say that when you do get to the "strawberry flavored yogurt cheerios" you get a little extra kick from the tartness of the strawberry flavor- if you've ever tasted dried strawberries - it's a similar taste.
Overall, the good: tastes good, made from whole grain and almost 10% of your daily dose of fiber. The bad: I could do with a little less gimmick/trickery in terms of the serving size, and some people may not like getting 200 calories from a bowl of cereal with milk, but I'm okay with it. Registered Dietitian Karen Kelly gave this a rating of 2.5 out of 5 stars. She did not like the fact that "sugar as an ingredient in the cereal moves up from the 4th ingredient to the 2nd ingredient in the yogurt version ... jumping from 1 gram to 11 grams" (read her review). And over at the Message Whore, LordJeezo looked at the number of yogurt cheerios compared to regular cheerios in the box, and he did not liked the small proportion, but he still gave this cereal 3.5/4 cheeses (read his review).
