Special K Low Carb Cereal

Special K Low Carb CerealSpecial K Cereal "for a low carb lifestyle" is made up of "lightly sweetened wheat, soy and rice flakes"; and they do mean very lightly sweetened, with only 2 grams of sugar per 3/4 cup serving. From the Kellogg's Special K website: "With Special K cereal for a Low Carb Lifestyle you can cut your carbohydrate intake without cutting back on crispy, sweet taste."

I agree that the cereal is crispy, but with this cereal, you definitely will be cutting back on sweet taste. The overall taste, while not unbearable, is almost non existent. Unless you are on a low carb diet, I could see no reason for eating this, and even then, I still wouldn't.

E 3/4 cup serving of Special K Low Carb Cereal provides 100 calories or 125 calories per cup of cereal (add 40 calories for half a cup of skim milk). There 's not much fat (3 grams total, 0.5 grams saturated), 5 grams of fiber or 20% of daily recommendations - excellent - and only 2 grams of sugar. There are 20-35% of many vitamins and minerals, and 9 grams of net carbs.

Nutritionally, this is very good, but unfortunately, this doesn't make up for the lackluster taste. I can't say I was thrilled with this and would keep looking for another low carb option.

Strangely enough, I absolutely love this cereal. I love it so much that I went on a diet for a week eating nothing but this and fat free milk, and I lose six pounds. I've never tried the other varieties of Special K, however.

I love this cereal, and I'm not on a low carb diet - I bought it because it was lower in sugar and higher in protien than the regular Special K.

Then again, I'm not really into super sweet cereals. However, if the main complaint is sweetness, why not add a packet of splenda?

I LOVE this cereal-- and I don't mean the healthful qualities; I mean the taste! As theFrog suggested in his/her comment, I add splenda, though I can and do eat it without. Of course, I don't eat carbs all that often.

i loved this too. I usually refuse to eat cereals and I dont drink milk but i added cold water and had a bite and it was still good. My sister even switched from her unhealthy breakfast cereal for this...and didnt add in the extra two tablespoons of sugar like she normally does.

why to you have to
put any sugar on this cereal- let me add my on splenda-

Wow! I'm a type 2 diabetic so I've been looking for a low carb/low sugar cereal. TY!

why are coupons so hard to get? all you get is a run around so why do you go to the trouble to even offer them?
