General Foods International Cappuccino Coolers

Cappuccino CoolersA Cappuccino Cooler is a tube of drink mix which you add to a cup of milk, stir and drink! The ingredients in the tube are sugar, instant coffee, artificial flavor and milk protein. I know we all don't like to see sugar as the first ingredient in anything, but in this case, there were 9 grams of sugar which is really not bad.

This gets the red lips award for being one of the shortest labels with easy to recognize ingredients.
The instant coffee is probably Maxwell House brand, since they are the distributors. This General Foods Cappuccino Cooler is a keeper, and I will be buying this over and over again in the future. The taste is excellent. I tried the French Vanilla flavor. You definitely get the coffee taste without it being overpowering. This makes a great tasting drink and I think you'll love it, especially if you have to have coffee and want something a bit nontraditional, or just something cool to drink.

The drink mix is only 60 calories, mostly from the 14 grams of sugar. While 14 grams of sugar is not necessarily too high, they could probably cut back a bit. But don't forget you have to add a cup of milk. It says add one cup of fat free milk, which will increase the calorie count to 150, similar to the amount in soda.

The cappuccino coolers come in a box with 6 individual tubes, which is priced at around $3.50, and worth it. Instead of having it as a plain drink with just milk, you can make a milkshake using ice cream, and may we recommend Breyers fat-free ice cream. (Click for the recipe from Kraft). Another recipe, this time from Nabisco shows you how to make an Oreo Cappuccino Frappe (blend the cappuccino cooler mix with milk, ice cubes and crumpled Oreo cookies). May we suggest you forgo the Oreo cookies for a healthier alternative.

Thanks for leaving a comment in response to my post at ProBlogger, Tanya! You have a beautiful site. And, I must say most of the food you feature looks pretty yummy including this coffee drink. I'm no coffee snob. I drink instant too.

It sounds a little scary to me. I'm a little afraid of cramy boxed drinks. Speaking of boxed foods, did anyone see the Sandra Lee Megamix on Bloghungry.com?

I like to make the hazelnut cooler into a syrup and then pour it over my chocolate ice cream and it resembles a chocolate iced coffee that you'd get at a Starbucks. Oh and the Wal-Marts in Tennessee has them for around $2.50.

I live in Nashville, TN and just bought a box of this for $1.82 at Walmart! Where do they get this $3.50 per box stuff??
