Lean Pockets Meatball and Mozzarella Sub

Lean Pockets Lean Pockets Subs is something I have not seen before, but then again I don't usually eat Lean Pockets for breakfast either. I'm more of a traditional breakfast eater - cereal or oatmeal, or I'll scramble some eggs occasionally. But when I saw these, I thought that a meatball sub was an "interesting idea" for breakfast.

The sub was actually quite tasty. There was plenty of meatballs, so you got a meaty chunk in every bite. The sub bread /roll actually came out to be a nice combination between soft and just a little bit crispy. If you have ever put bread in the microwave, you know that it's usually a soggy mess when it comes out. But the nifty 'crisping sleeve' that you put the sub in does a good job of getting the roll to come out tasting like slightly toasted bread. The combination of cheese, meatballs and sauce was actually quite good. I could definitely see myself eating this for lunch, but I didn't think it was filling enough for dinner, which is actually when I ate it and I kept expecting a bite of lettuce and tomatoes like you get in traditional subs. Otherwise though, it really was quite good - not great, but good.

The Lean Pockets Meatball and Mozzarella Sub were priced at $2.50 on sale at Kroger, for a pack containing 2 subs. There are 310 calories, 7 grams of fat (11% of the daily value), 2.5 grams of saturated fat, 750 mg of sodium (31% of the daily value), 5 grams of fiber and 17 grams of protein.

That's a lot of sodium for a lunchtime meal for me. Overall, I thought this product was average - good but not great is how I would describe it.
