Slim Fast Optima Blueberry Muffin Bar
The 'fake muffin' tasted somewhat like medicine, just in a solid form. The one word that really describes the taste of this bar is 'off.' The blueberry taste was 'off', the muffin taste and texture, 'off', and it left an 'off' aftertaste. I wasn't trying to make it a substitute for a real muffin, but just in case somebody out there is thinking that way - think again! These are in no way a substitution, at least not in taste. Nutritionally, SlimFast.com says, "Optima Snack Bars have 40-70% less sugar than our original snack bars, 15 vitamins and minerals, and 20-25% of your daily value of calcium." So I expected excellent nutrition, and it wasn't bad. There are 140 calories, 5 grams total fat, 0.5 grams of saturated fat, 170 mg (7%) of sodium, and 9 g of sugar. The real beauty is in all the vitamins and minerals you get. There is about 15% of 15 different vitamins and minerals. Overall I wouldn't reccommend this product, nor buy it again myself, even with the excellent nutrition. That just doesn't overcome the taste, but I have been impressed with other Slim Fast products, so it's just this one that might need a makeover. Taste:
