Kashi Heart to Heart Instant Oatmeal

quaker oatmeal It's no secret that I am a big fan of the Kashi company, and most of their products. I signed up for their newsletter - that's how much of a fan I am, and I got some coupons in the mail. So it was only a matter of time before I tried out some of the new products that they had come out with recently. I chose the Heart to Heart Raisin Spice Instant Oatmeal. Oatmeal is one of those things that I hated as a child, but now that I'm older (and wiser?) I find that I can tolerate it, and some variations actually taste 'decent.' I can't even bring myself to really say I like oatmeal, yet. So Kashi had a bit of an uphill batttle with me, but I must say they were up to the challenge.

This oatmeal was 'okay' maybe even good, but really nothing spectacular. It was just like regular oatmeal. Unfortunately, they may need to add some more spice to their 'Raisin and Spice' flavor, because it really didn't have much in there. It was sweet though, so maybe the spice they are referring to is sugar?! I don't know. There were about 5 raisins in it. I know this because they were some big fat raisins. It was like eating oatmeal and then having a raisin or two on the side. They really didn't integrate the two very well. If I were going off taste alone, I would have to stick with Quaker Instant Oatmeal, but they have been around for much longer thoguh, so they have had plenty of practice to get their formulation perfect.

What Kashi lacks in 'spice' they make up for in nutrition. Not only do they give you quite a few vitamins and minerals, but they give it to you at 100% - none of that 15-25% like that other oatmeal. Heart to Heart has 150 calories, only 100 mg sodium, 2 grams fat, 4 grams fiber and 16 grams sugar. Healthy for the heart and a lot of other parts of you too. They are a little pricey, at around $3.50 for a pack of 4.

I love Kashi's products! Their TLC crackers are wonderful! And I can't seem to get enough of their heart to heart cereal. I'll have to check their oatmeal out right after I finish off the Costco sized box of Quaker's oatmeal. Thanks for the review!

My wife and I tried Kashi Truly Vanilla Oatmeal, because we have loved all of the other Kashi products. My wife tried it first and has been stuck on the pot for three days. She dared me to try it and I finally did. The taste was pretty bland but the aftershock is what is most memorable. My stomach has been in knots ever since and my toilet bowl is well decorated with the seeds of the Kashi Oatmeal. If anyone is interested in our other 6 packets be our guest but don't say you weren't warned.

I know this is an old post, but.... I LOVE Kashi products, expecially the TLC granola bars. They are the best our there. They taste amazing with real fruit and nuts, and they actually have protein and fiber! (unlike special k bars and some others that claim to be healthy. But, I must say that I tried the GOLEAN? honey cinnamon flavor of oatmeal or hot cereal or whatever? And the taste was not there. It was pretty bland. Though I was impressed with the amount of protein and fiber included versus your average quaker oatmeal which seems to have more sugar than anything. Vut, I think you're better off adding your own spices to some steel cut oats or something...

Try the Go Lean oatmeal... it's higher in fiber, protein and lower in sugar and fat. It also tastes amazing, especially the vanilla one. Add a little splenda if you want it sweeter. Mix in a banana and some cut up strawberries. SO good, and only 150 calories.

I recently discovered the Go Lean oatmeal and love it. I've never liked oatmeal before now. I always add some fresh strawberries and/or blueberries and will sometimes add splenda and some whey protein power too. Very nutritious breakfast and keeps you full for a good while. I've had none of the issues that Greg complained about.

The maple flavor is plenty sweet, as long as you're not expecting a super sweet sugar rush like you get with so many other , less nutritional oatmeals. This is an awesome way to get a quick breakfast if you are serious about eating healthier. If it's not sweet enough, just add some sugar like the stuff you are used to has in it. At least you'll get all the nutrients along with it.
