Weight Watchers Smart Ones Penne Pollo
The standards of frozen meals have really improved since they were first introduced years and years ago. I can attest to the fact that most are worth buying, and are cheaper than fast food. In fact I eat one for dinner every night - I'm a busy graduate student with no desire to cook right now. I like the fact that Weight Watchers tries to jazz up the name of this product by calling it Penne Pollo. Sounds better than chicken and pasta. for sure, but that's what it is. Lucky for us, they didn't just jazz up the name - the entire meal is jazzed up with a delicious garlic sauce, and steamed broccoli, which actually tastes good when mixed up with the penne pasta and garlic sauce - and I am not a big fan of broccoli.
Weight Watchers Smart Ones Penne Pollo provides 290 calories, 6 grams total fat (9% of the RDA), 2.5 grams of saturated fat (13% of the RDA), 14% of the RDA for cholesterol (what's that doing in there), 590 mg sodium (25% of the daily value), 21 grams of protein and 39 grams of total carbohydrates which includes 5 grams of sugars and 3 grams of fiber (14% of the RDA).
I won't even compare it to the fast food that you could be having, except to say that this tastes great and is better nutritionally.

hey tanya,
I've had the Weight Watchers Smart Ones frozen dinners before and they're surprisingly good. And the price is pretty decent. I think the one that we kept picking up was the tuna noodle? My only complaint with them was that it wasn't enough to get full. It's sort of a snack instead of a meal for me...
How much are the Smart Ones meals nowadays in the market?
The Smart Ones are about $2-$3 each. They are the tastiest, in my opinion, except for the Lean Cuisine pizzas (400 cals or more, but so yummy). I had trouble with the portions of the Smart Ones at first, too, but now I am used to it. I think that is part of setting new habits and being more aware of our food habits. Also, don't forget that you can add an additional vegetable serving to a Smart Ones meal for very few calories. I also like to eat 4 oz of lowfat cottage cheese with the Italian meals for only 80 more cals and 1 more gram of fat.
