McDonald's Cesar Salad with Grilled Chicken
When I think of getting a salad, I don't usually think of going to McDonald's or another fast food place. But here I was. I needed something quick and as I gazed on the many healthy choices on the McDonald's drive through menu board, I settled on the Caesar salad with grilled chicken, and fat free French dressing. I'm odd like that. I like Caesar salads because of the grated parmesan cheese that comes on it, but I don't like Caesar dressing. See the pack of salad dressing in the picture? Well that's fat free ITALIAN! not French. But I'm not going to hold that against them during this review.
The salad was delicious. It looked good and tasted good. The grilled chicken tasted as if it had been marinated, because it was very flavorful, and was the perfect sidekick to the veggies - for us 'omnivores.' I even had the small grape tomatoes that came in the salad and they were firm and good. My only complaint - why do they give us that thick slab of chicken? Couldn't they cut it up - Caesar salad with grilled chicken strips? I believe most people do cut it up to eat it with their salads, and it does take some time to go through that chunky chicken. That's just going the extra distance McDonald's, and for $4.19, I didn't expect to have to do so much work to get my salad "my way" (that's a little Burger King slogan joke there - get it? "Have it your way right away?" Come on people.... :0)
This salad (without dressing) gives up 210 calories, 6 g fat, 3 g saturated fat, 28 g protein, 3 g fiber, but 810 mg sodium (35% daily value). So you people watching your sodium have to be careful about this one. The verdict - delicious although I thought $4.19 was a bit much, but I was informed that I was being cheap!

I find that the salad is kind of small and not 100% filling, so I order a plain $1 side salad and dump it on the Caesar sald and take the extra packet of dressing home to use as veggie dip for the kids or when we run out of other dressing.
And yes,it's more expensive to eat healthy at McDonald's. The burgers/sandwiches w/ fries are always cheaper.
Hey Tanya, thanks for visiting by blog. I am glad that I found yours. Being a person 'on-the-go' I find myself going to fast-food places more often than I'd like to admit. Thanks for the review on McDonald's Chicken Caesar Salad. I tried their other one (with bacon & blue cheese crumbles) and really liked it. I think the average price for a salad at most fast-food places is about $4 bucks.
Ok. Well, to try to put this simply--the Caesar salads from McDonalds are NOT a healthy choice. The chicken and entire salad for that matter can be very deceiving but its been known that you might as well eat a cheeseburger if you're going to have their chicken on your salad. It's very hard to consider anything from McDonalds is healthy, and it should be obvious that what they put on their salads as well as the dressing they give you aren't by any means "nutritous". I thought the same thing when I went there and ate them, but soon later found out that I was wrong and didn't know as much as I assumed I did. They taste delicious, but it's just as bad as eating a cheeseburger. Don't take my word it, please read up on it more because I don't know much on the evidence--but I always hear about it. Supposedly the chicken is fried, thus being really greasy and not very good for you at all.
Nutrition facts for food items at McDonalds are available at their website
Nutrition facts for a cheeseburger: 310 calories, 12 g fat, 6 g saturated fat, 1 g trans fat, 40 mg cholesterol, 740 mg sodium.
Nutrition facts for Cesar Salad with GRILLED chicken, without the dressing (as I stated in the review) : 220 calories, 6 g fat, 3 g saturated fat, 0 g trans fat, 75 mg cholesterol, 880 mg sodium.
You judge for yourself if eating that salad is as bad as eating the cheeseburger.
I love fast food but I won't be able to enjoy a salad from my favorite stops until they learn to deep-fry it....
I live in germany and McDonald's is serving their Grilled Chicken Cesar Salad here as well. In fact, I just finished eating one =)
Guess what we've got to pay for it?
4.99 EUR, that's $7.88.
Well, at least they've cut the chicken in stripes. I really like this salad and I'm going to buy it again, despite the price.
oh i love this salat
i could eat it every day but it is vvery expensive here in Germany
its 5.19 now
This salad isnt that bad. I didnt particularly like the tatste of the lettuce, however the chicken was pretty good. Most of the cals is in the dressing.
The only things that aren't pumped up with fat and grease at Mc Donald's are the veggies... unless u put the chicken on it. All of their food is injected with a sodium water solution that makes it thicker and jucier... and so much more unhealthy. If you are looking for a 'health conscious' fast food (although I don't think picking on poison over the other will really help you lose weight, or what ever,) try Chik-fil-a. There is no water solution in the food

Hi there. I'm a teenager and currently work at McDonald's. You must have driven through a McDonald's with lazy kitchen memebers, because the workers are supposed to cut the chicken into strips.
They have the crispy piece of chicken that comes in the southern style chicken, salad, and the other premium chicken sandwiches that is deep fried for 7 minutes. Than they have the grilled chicken, just as thick and chunky, prepared the same way, except unbreaded and grilled instead of fried.
Basically anything you get at Mcdonald's won't be extremely healthy for you, because of the pre-seasoned and prepared items.
But, in all honesty the grilled items are not horribly life threatening. Unless you eat them everyday, you will be fine. Choosing a cheeseburger or grilled chicken is definitely healthier than any of the fried products. McDonald's also isn't a restaurant that gives enormous portions like burger king or anything ethier.
