It's very difficult to go wrong with a chicken teriyaki dish, but you never know! Fortunately, Lean Cuisine got it right with this chicken teriyaki medley. The 'white meat chicken with long grain white rice, snap peas, carrots and red peppers' was served up in a bowl, a nice change from the standard box shape. But don't go expecting the nice looking white enamel bowl on the box, because it's the cheap black plastic type that you'll be getting.
This is the best way to tackle this meal because then you don't get the teriyaki sauce over everything. If you have ever had plain white rice, you'll know a little bit of sauce makes it taste a whole lot better. The box says, "Now with more chicken!" and that is accurate. There is quite a bit chicken chunks - no complaints here. Now, I'll be the first to admit that I do not like vegetables, but the snap peas in this dish were sweet and firm ... almost made me want to go out and buy some - okay who am I kidding! If it wasn't for these meals, I don't think I would get any vegetables in my diet - sad but true.
The chicken teriyaki bowl has 320 calories, 3 grams total fat, 1 gram of unsaturated fat, 16 grams of protein and 3 grams of fiber. In addition, you can get 50% of the daily requirement of vitamin A from this. The only bad thing nutritionally - as with most frozen meals - there are 690 milligrams of sodium, 29% of the daily reccommended amount. This bowl cost $2.50 and is totally woorth it.
