WholeSoy Chocolate Hazelnut Frozen Cultured Soy
WholeSoy Frozen Cultured Soy was found in the ice cream section, so I'm guessing it is supposed to be a 'dairy free' ice cream alternative. I tried the chocolate hazelnut flavor which looked chocolatey (meaning it was brown), but as for the taste ... there was a sweet chocolate taste at first, which was overpowered soon after by a strong 'beany' aftertaste, characterisitic of soy. The unwanted taste lingers in your mouth for quite a while, forcing you to re-live the awful after effects again and again. Lets just say that this did not taste even remotely close to ice cream. I'm really not sure where the hazelnut flavor came in, but I'm thinking adding soybeans and hazelnut flavor together in one product may NOT be a good combination. I'll pass on this product based on the taste alone.
Each 1/2 cup serving of WholeSoy Chocolate Hazelnut Frozen Cultured Soy provides 110 calories, 2.5 grams of total fat, no saturated fat, 15 grams of sugar, 3 grams of protein, 2% vitamin C, and 4% iron. Nutritionally - not bad - but nothing spectular enough to overcome the taste!
This is not something I would recommend anyone buying.

Tofutti is the non-ice cream frozen dessert of choice for me. I'm dairy allergic, so I don't have a choice of ice cream or not. But to me, the Tofutti Vanilla is the best.
Too bad you didn't try the Black Cherry flavor from WholeSoy - yummm! I'm addicted to it. The Caramel is really good too. I have to say, I love the WholeSoy frozen desserts, though I haven't tried the Chocolate Hazelnut so can't comment on that.
