South Beach Diet Penne & Chicken
>South Beach Diet Penne and chicken is made with 'breast strips with rib meat and penne pasta in a creamy red pepper sauce with broccoli.' And it tastes just as delicious as it sounces, so I wasn't even mad that I passed up the $2.00 Health Choice meals and paid extra for this just so I could write the review. The sauce was creamy and flavorful. It was so good that even though I hate broccoli, I could dip them in the sauce, add a little of the penne (which is like macaroni for those who may not know) and chow down. The chicken were nice little strips, but I might add that I did not see much chicken in this meal. It was okay though, because the meal itself was tasty and the net weight of 10.5 oz proved to be quite filling.
Nutritionally, this meal provides 290 calories, 20% of the RDA for total fat (13 grams), 23% of the RDA for saturated fat (4.5 grams), no trans fat, 50 mg cholesterol, 47% of the RDA for sodium (1120 mg) , 8 grams of fiber and 24 grams of protein.
Wow - too much saturated fat and too much sodium. The nutrition facts could definitely use some improvement. Overall, I really liked the taste, but the price, which was $3.19 - more than many other brands of frozen entrees - and the less than stellar nutrition facts means that I might buy this occasionally, since there is plenty broccoli, protein and fiber.
