Wendy's Ultimate Chicken Grill
Many FastFood chains are now offering healthy options and what they 'claim to be' healthy meals, included grilled (not fried) sandwiches, fruit cups, salads etc. Wendy's offers up the Ultimate Chicken Grill Sandwich. Why is it the 'Ultimate' you may ask ... because this is a big a$$ sandwich. The grilled chicken fillet is 105 g (3.69 ounces). Remember, the new food guide pyramid MyPyramid recommends 51/2 oz daily from the meat and beans group (for a 2000 calorie diet). Apart from the chicken, you get one leaf of Romaine lettuce, a tomato and a sweet and savory sauce. This sandwich is delicious, and will certainly fill you up.
One sandwich (without the sauce - trust me, it's just as good without it) is 330 calories, 200 of which come from the Kaiser roll alone, 5 g fat (2.5 g comes from the roll!), 0.5 g saturated fat, 990 mg of sodium (the RDA is 2400 mg) and 31 g protein. So high in sodium, not so bad in total calories or fat. Overall, nutritionally, this was better than I thought it would be.
Side note: Free Frosty (Junior size) weekend at Wendys from May 13, 2005 - May 15, 2005. This doesn't mean we are promoting the Frosty. After all, it's 160 calories, 21 g sugar, 4.0 g fat, and 2.5 g saturated fat, but we are for free stuff. Just try and share it okay!
