Michael Season's Soy Protein Chips

chips These snacks were heavily discounted at the time of purchase, 25 cents per 1 oz bag (about the size of a small bag of chips). I tried the smoky bbq flavor and upon opening the bag you really got a whiff of the flavor. This was very enticing and made me want to try the chips which were triangular like Doritoes but with a few 'cosmetic' holes in the chips. On the first bite, I didn't think it was that bad, but as I kept chewing and I tried just 1 more chip, I realised that this mess was awful. It is actually hard to describe the taste. It's almost like you are chewing really crispy barbecue flavored tree bark. There is a really odd taste that I have never experienced before, and I hope never to experience again. I can see why they flavored this so much, but even that doesn't help.

There are 110 calories with 5 g of fat, although 0 g saturated fat and 12 g protein. I don't think that makes up for the horrible taste.

I've eaten soy chips before (EatSmart Soy Crisps). They were also heavily seasoned, but in Parmesan, Garlic, and Olive Oil. The first bite was delicious, but every subsequent bite afterwards was horrible. BTW, I love your site! Came here via The Impulsive Buy.

I think this is a misguided review. All soy based crisps/chips have that trademark soy flavor. A proper review would compare these chips to similar soy products - not Doritos. Additionally, these are low-carb, a feature not all soy chips have.

In the landscape of all low-carb soy crisps/chips, these are some one the most versatile products on the market for giving a low-carb dieter something crunchy to dip in salsa, cheese, etc.

I've been following a low-carb diet and I loved these chips. The taste does grow on you after a while. I've only tried the plain, but I'd love to get my hand on something else. I agree with the last post, bring them back!!!!

My 15 month old has been a picky and might I add stubborn eater from the beginning but he LOVES these chips! I won't feed him any other chips because they have such little nutritional value in them. Or maybe I love that these chips have so much protein in them.

Unfortunately I can no longer find these chips and I'm really disappointed. Snack time just isn't the same without them.

I suppose that I should add that I find the chips to taste rather bland, but I was just so thankful that I found something that my son will eat.
