Boca Meatless Ground Burger
In this meal, the Boca grounds tastes very close to the real meaty deal. Close but not exactly! Boca has more of a 'chewy' texture than ground beef, and that's really about the only way I could tell the difference between the two. Of course, visually, they are a bit different too. Boca has a brownish grey - not unattractive color, similar to when you have slightly cooked and browned ground beef. Boca also comes in much smaller little chunky pieces than ground beef and doesn't stick together well. In fact, you can't shape it into burger patties for use on the grill - I tried - it doesn't work. I suppose die hard meat eaters may notice the difference in taste with the chewiness of Boca as opposed to beef, but would they be put off by it? I don't think so. I wasn't and I am definitely a carnivore. The recipes on the back of the box also suggest that you can use Boca in tacos and a penne pasta. Nutritionally Boca Meatless Ground Burger is far superior to ground beef with only 60 calories per 1/2 cup serving (half of one pouch), 0.5 grams of total fat, no cholesterol, only 270 milligrams of sodium, 3 grams of fiber, and 13 grams of protein. You can't get much better than that. Please remember that this is only part of the meal, so make sure that the other ingredients are also nutritious. For example, Del Monte Spaghetti Sauce will only add another 70 calories for a 1/2 cup serving, but it also adds 680 milligrams sodium, to push the total sodium for the meal up to 950 mg (39% your recommended daily intake). Boca meatless ground burger is really soy protein and wheat gluten according to the ingredients label. One box costs about $3.50 and has 3 packets. Easily one of the best values for your money.
