KitKat Carb Alternatives
These little Kats come in tiny packs of 1 bar of KitKat (about 2.5 - 3 inches long and about 1 inch wide), so eating 1 alone, well that may be an option for some, but not for me. I have to have at least 2. I tried it and they were okay. They were not as sweet as regular Kats by any means and the difference is pretty obvious, but it was still good enough. Let me preface this by saying, "I am not a chocolate lover." I mean, I like chocolate well enough, and I'll eat it if it's there, but I will never go to the store and get something chocolaty and this includes chocolate chips - unless of course, I'm going to review it. That said if you are a chocolate person, I suspect you maybe offended that they call this chocolate and you will miss the creamy, milky, melt in your mouth taste of the real thing.
Since it is a 'carb alternative' and tasted 'healthier' (if this is possible) than the real thing, I checked out the ingredients label and there were a few surprises. I mean, I know it said 'Carb Alternative' but I expected it to be healthy stuff all around. One serving is 6 pieces but 1 pack is only 1 piece. One serving has 180 calories, 10 g of sugar, 6 g of sugar alcohols (the stuff that will send you to the bathroom if you eat too much) and 12 g of fat with 8 g (40% of your recommended dietary allowance) of saturated fat! 40%? Yes, from 6 itty bitty Kats, you will get 8 g of saturated fat.
So, the verdict: Doesn't really taste sweet, but is good enough, still has sugar, although not that much (less than 1/2 cup juice) but too much fat and saturated fat. I'm going to pass on this one. If you want to treat yourself once in a while, then go for the good stuff.
