Gardenburger Meatless Meatballs Penne Marinara

Nutritionally, this meal was very good. For a 10 oz serving, you only get 300 calories, 21 g of protein and 12 g of fiber - that's 46% of your daily fiber requirement (which is 25 g), but you also get a whopping 1000 mg of sodium - 42% of your daily requirement. This product is a little more pricey than some ready-to-eat meals, at a little over $3.00 but most vegetarian -meatless- products are.

So now we get to taste. Can you tell I've been stalling? I love Gardenburger products. While I'm not a vegetarian, I do enjoy going meatless when I can, and their stuff is usually topnotch. So I was very disappointed when I sat down, ready to enjoy yet another Gardenburger experience, but instead I found a product that is edible but not enjoyable. The sauce - did they say marinara? I think not. It was like watered down tomato juice. The penne was a bit on the tough-not-tender side, and the meatballs - lets just say don't expect it to taste like traditional meatballs.

I wonder if there are just some things you shouldn't try to substitute. I'm saddened to say it, but I don't think I will be spending my hard earned money on this product in the future thumbs down

Yes, I have been veg for a long time, and meatballs (along with bacon) are about on my "do not try" list. I think it is because they are just so complicated.
