Naturally Preferred Organic Golden Flax Cereal

Naturally Preferred Organic Golden Flax CerealNaturally Preferred is a Kroger brand, and as with most store brand products, I wasn't expecting much. Still the Organic Golden Flax Cereal lured me in with the promise of health benefits and I was certainly willing to try it.

After munching on a few mouthfuls, I though it was good - not great - but edible. It tastes similar to (but better than) Total Raisin Bran. Maybe a little more sweetness would help, or I think some almonds would be a good fit for this cereal.

Each 3/4 cup serving of Naturally Preferred Organic Golden Flax Cereal provides 180 calories, 3 grams of total fat, 65 mg sodium, 6 grams of protein and 36 grams of carbohydrates which includes 6 grams of dietary fiber and 9 grams of sugar. This cereal has 1000 mg Omega-3-fatty acids - that's the good stuff and an impressive list of ingredients which includes organic grains, cane juice, barley malt, flaxseed and a few more items.

This is a good cereal if you want to eat a nutritious breakfast, but you don't care too much about the taste. The main reason this cereal cannot get a rating of more than a 3/5 though is price. At more than $3.00 for a box, I want it to taste a little better thoguh.
