Healthy Choice Slow Roasted Turkey Breast & Mashed Potatoes
When did ready-to-eat-meals stop tasting yucky? Nobody sent me the memo, but apparently Healthy Choice got it, because their Slow Roasted Turkey Breast & Mashed Potatoes is good. The mashed potatoes tasted like mashed potatoes, and not the fake flakes they sell - I have a thing against 'potato flakes' that you boil to get mashed potatoes - nasty tasting stuff! But back to my review. The turkey was good, and so was the gravy. My only complaint would be that there was a whole lot of gravy - could cut out some calories and salt by reducing it a little.
Nutritionally, Healthy Choice Slow Roasted Turkey Breast & Mashed Potatoes is only 210 calories, but there is just too much salt - 600 mg of sodium (25% of the RDA) perhaps coming from the use of soy sauce. The ingredients label is quite lengthy for a simple, mashed potatoes and gravy meal, and comes complete with partially hydrogenated oils, therefore trans fats may be an issue with this product. They have 7 grams of fat with 1.5 grams coming from saturated fat.
Overall, great taste, the price is right, but a bit of concern over all the ingredients/additives, the partially hydrogenated oils, and all the sodium in this baby.
