Gardenburger Meatless Sweet & Sour Pork Rice

Gardenburger With only 310 calories, only 4 g of fat with no saturated or trans fat, 14 g of protein and 14 g of sugars there is no question this product is a healthy meal. I am not a big fan of ready-to-eat meals. I think the taste leaves a lot to be desired, and they are way too small portions for me, but I was very pleasantly surprised by the taste of this product. It was simply great! loved it

The *pork* is really made from soy, and I love that they added a hickory smoked flavor (seen in the ingredients). It gives it the aroma of real meat, and that just completes the experience. In addition to the 'meat' there was brown rice with diced green peppers, onions and pineapple and a sweet and sour sauce. Hickory smoked does not necessarily go with sweet & sour though, but this was more of an aroma than a real taste, so they made it work. I do think the pork could be paired with something else to make a better meal, perhaps a teriyaki sauce. Anyhow, the sweet and sour sauce was pretty good - maybe a bit more sweet than sour. I also don't like onions personally, but it wasn't too much.

I loved this meal-to-go yummy and the price was right around $2.50. I still found it a bit too small a meal for me (9 oz) but after drinking my Key Lime Green Tea Soda and eating just a few Kettle Chips, I was good to go.
