Veg News Chooses Their Favorites for the 2009 Veggie Awards

2009 Veg News AwardsI love Food Awards Lists because they showcase the best of the best, introduce products you might not have heard of before, and act as a grocery list of foods to try that you "should" like. Of course, it's the ones with the healthy or diet-friendly products that interest me the most. VegNews has already published their annual Veggie Awards and we picked through to highlight the food products that got top billing.

    The Readers' Picks
  • Favorite Vegan Ice Cream: Purely Decadent. (If you have not had Purely Decadent Dairy Free Mocha Almond Fudge or Purely Decadent Dairy Free Cherry Nirvana Ice Cream, you are really missing out).
  • Favorite Non-Dairy Milk: Silk - they won last year too (we particularly love Silk with Fiber).
  • Favorite Vegan Cookies: Newman's Own Organics
  • Favorite Vegan Chocolate: Endangered Species Chocolate
  • Favorite Tofu: Nasoya
  • Favorite Vegan Cheese: Vegan Gourmet
  • Favorite Veg Meat: California Veggie Burger
  • Favorite Energy Bar: Luna Bar
  • Favorite Snack: Trader Joe's Peanut Butter-filled Pretzels
  • Favorite Condiment: Vegenaise
  • Favorite Nut Butter: MaraNatha's Almond Butter
  • Favorite Tea: Tazo
  • Favorite Supplement: VeganLife Multivitamin
    The Editors' Picks
  • Company of the Year: Turtle Mountain (makers of the Reader's Choice Favorite Ice Cream, plus the So Delicious and Toffuti brands too).
  • Product of the Year: Daiya Cheese.
  • Book of the Year: The Conscious Cook.

Although this is a list of vegetarian products, i can vouch for quite a few of them that you should try, whether or not you're vegetarian.
