Food Notes

Top New Food Products of 2009 from FoodProcessing.com

Towards the end of the year, I look forward to the "Best Foods of the Year Lists" published by many food magazines & sites. FoodProcessing.com has already published theirs, picked by the editors and writers according. Last year, their choices seemed to reflect products made using innovations in food technology. This year, they mentioned that after looking at their selections the trend seemed to follow foods that promote fitness or were fast and fun.

FoodProcessing.com List of Best Food Products of 2009 includes:
  • Progresso High-Fiber Soup. Warm, delicious, healthy comfort food
  • Wells' Blue Bunny Aspen and Sedona ice cream novelties. Low-fat frozen yogurt with probiotic cultures rolled in granola. Like hitting the trifecta: Low in fat, probiotic and tasty!
  • Healthy Choice Mixers. Toss them in your desk drawer for a ready-to-go lunch.
  • Dannon Activia Yogurt Drinks. Nutrition and convenience - a two-fer.
  • Boost Kid Essentials Nutritionally Complete Drink. Sipping nutrition for picky kids.

  • Ore-Ida Steam n' Mash. Frozen mashed potatoes good as homemade.
  • Tyson Any'tizers. A collective "Yum."
  • DiGiorno Flatbread Melts. Increasingly, the world is flat.
  • Giant Cheetos. Quirky Chester Cheetah grows up.

What do you think of the list? I gotta say Giant Cheetos will probably never make my list, and we reviewed Progresso High Fiber Creamy Tomato Basil Soup, which was meh (but maybe the other varieties are good).

I can't believe that Progresso High Fiber soup made the list....I wasn't much of a fan. But those Blue Bunny Sedona Sandwiches most certainly deserve to be on that list! YUM!
