Planters Energy Mix Trail Mix
I am always on the hunt for convenient, portable, healthy, and cheap on-the-go snack options. I tend to have an eagle-eye for new products that have hit the shelves, and last Sunday afternoon, when I was in Target cherishing my little self-imposed study break, I saw individual packages of Planters Energy Mix Trail Mix. Lately anything that claims to give you an energy boost draws me in hook line and sinker since the past 3 months of my life have been a hectic whirlwind of student activity with an 18 hour course load and working in the afternoons!
The day after purchasing this, I was in the middle of my International Marketing class, the tummy was grumbling and I was just dreading the release of some horrendous gurgling sound from my stomach. That's when I discretely whipped out my package of Planters Energy Mix Trail Mix and dug in. And surprise surprise, I just about fell out of my chair it was so good (I might have had I not been in class). The Trail Mix is delicious, with sweet little sesame seed twigs, pecans, walnuts, honey roasted peanuts, salty almonds and ... the best thing - the out of control dark chocolate covered soy nuts! I must admit that I really have no recollection of what my Professor was talking about during that 15 minute interim where I was lost in the joys of Trail Mix, thank goodness he didn't call on me!

I normally don't eat trail mix because just as little as a handful has at least 100 calories - and most people eat the whole bag in one sitting - which can add up to 100 calories. That said, I got a hold of Not Nuts Trail Mix and this goes up there with one the best tasting trail mixes I have ever had - and it is not made up of the usual stuff. Not Nuts Trail Mix is 'allergen free' because it has no nuts, dairy, soy or gluten! Instead, the ingredients are raw sunflower kernels, roasted hulled pumpkin seeds, raisins, dried apples, chocolate chips (non dairy), and cranberries. A simple list of ingredients, great taste and perfect for people with food allergies.
Planters Trail Mix Golden Nut Crunch
Diet Trash is about the food products you might eat because you think you're doing something better for your diet, but you'll be surprised to know, they're not.
Trail Mix is a popular snack, but one which can really contribute hidden calories to any diet. Planters Trail Mix Golden Nut Crunch for example, while tasting great with it's mix of peanuts, almonds, raisins, honey roasted cashews, peanut candy pieces, honey roasted sunflower seeds, pretzel sticks and sesame sticks, it's also 3 tablespoons per serving which will contribute 17% of the recommended daily intake of total fat, and 10% of the saturated fat recommendations. That's more fat than you get from a small bag of potato chips!
Three tablespoons is really not a lot - there are 16 tablespoons in a cup - so before you know it, you could eat 50% or more of your daily fat servings could come from these nuts! There are also 160 calories per 3 tablespoon serving (about the same as is in a small bag of potato chips). Of course, I'm not saying that Planter's Trail mix shouldn't be eaten - just in moderation. My solution is to take out a certain amount to take with me - and eat no more. I never eat directly from the bag - since I really have little self control when it comes to snacks!
