Promise activ SuperShots
Promise activ SuperShots is the first fruit and yogurt mini-drink with added natural plant sterols, ingredients clinically proven to help actively lower cholesterol (as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol). A serving of Promise activ provides 2.0 grams of plant sterols (a total daily intake of at least 0.8 grams of plant sterols, as part of a low saturated fat, low trans fat and low cholesterol diet, may help reduce the risk of heart disease).
I wouldn't buy Promise activ for any other reason than to help reduce your cholesterol (and I am a believer in the effects of plant sterols), because the bottles are so small - this really is like a "shot." I bought a 4 pack of the strawberry flavor of and was pleasantly surprised with the taste. It is slightly tangy and not too sweet, with a smooth, milky consistency (not very thick), although there is not much trace of strawberry flavor in this.

Yoplait 'Healthy Heart' Low fat Yogurt is formulated with plant sterols which are known to help reduce the risk of heart disease. Yoplait yogurt is always very tasty and this one is no exception. I tried the Cherry Orchard flavor. It's creamy, has ample little chunks of fruit, and is reasonably priced.
This yogurt may be low in fat, with only 1.5 grams of total fat and 0.5 grams saturated fat, but there are 180 calories and a whopping 27 grams of sugar in the 6 ounce container. While plant stanols may be good for the heart, too much sugar is not good for the body.

Orange juice seems to be one of those good old fashioned juices that is just perfect the way it is, so I don't understand why companies are messing with it. First there was Tropicana Essentials Light which really was just watered down orange juice with artificial sweeteners added to make it artificially have less sugars, and I was pretty mad about this (read the review). Now Minute Maid is also 'improving' on OJ, by adding plant sterols, but thankfully, this is a change that I quite like. At least it's still 100% pure orange juice ... well now it's more like orange juice with a little extra uumph!
At least 0.8 grams of plant sterols taken daily have been clinically proven to help lower cholesterol (as part of a healthy diet of course). The good news is that all this adding still left us with the same great orange juice taste that we have come to know and love from Minute Maid, and the extra 1 gram of plant sterols per serving, will be of benefit to those trying to get their cholesterol under control.
