MorningStar Farms Chik'n Nuggets
MorningStar Farms Chik'n Nuggets are meatless nuggets made from textured soy protein. I popped them in the oven instead of microwaving them and flipped halfway through so both sides got crispy then took them out to nosh. I don't know about you, but unless it's left overs and I'm in a hurry, I find that oven baked nuggets taste much better than the microwaved kind.
These faux-meat chik'n nuggets were so much better than even the Purdue real chicken ones. The texture on the inside is smooth and not stringy or uneven like real chicken can be. The outside gets nice and crunchy and tastes of a slight hint of spices. They go great with a chilled side of ketchup (I'm a condiment person). I made them for my friends the next night (and baked sliced and salted sweet potatoes for healthy 'nuggets & fries'). They're usually the first to call me a crazy health-nut but they absolutely loved them!

Quorn nuggets are "meat-free, soy-free and a good source of protein made from natural ingredients with 33% less fat than chicken nuggets." All those descriptors are on the Quorn box, so I was very intrigued. I should point out though that Quorn Nuggets are not vegan because they contain re-hydrated egg white. The ingredients list also mentions that it contains 2% or less of wheat gluten, which may be important if you have to live gluten free.
These Quorn nuggets taste amazing! Do not think dry, weird tasting, fake meat. Instead, picture juicy, tender 'chicken' nuggets because they sure tasted like chicken. Don't bother with the microwave directions either. Pop them in a toaster oven for 15 minutes to get that warm, crispy, breaded crust. I loved it and both my cousins who I forced to try it also loved it. Then I looked at the nutrition label. 190 calories from 3-4 nuggets? What?! I had already eaten about 6 by then because they were so tasty. There is also 15% of the daily requirement of fat (10 grams) and 8% from saturated fat (1.5 grams). But they are supposed to be 1/3 less fat than chicken nuggets. Hmmm ... let me check out Mickey D's.

Morningstar Farms Veggie Bites are like chicken nuggets, except that instead of being made with chicken the middle is filled with broccoli and cheddar while the outside is breaded. The veggie 'bites' are also like big nuggets. Each one is about 2 - 3 inches in diameter - or bigger than McDonald's chicken nuggets. Morningstar Farms veggie bites taste delicious - and I was very surprised because I don't like veggies and I especially don't like broccoli. If you're like me, don't let that scare you! The broccoli, cheese and breaded outer crust together make it so tasty that you really wouldn't be able to tell it's broccoli. At least not until you bite into one of the broccoli chunks (I think it's a piece of broccoli stem). There's only about 1 chunk in each nugget, but I didn't like it and I didn't eat it, but I think people more familiar with veggies, especially broccoli, won't mind this.
