Trader Joes Matcha Green Tea Lowfat Yogurt
Over in the Food Forum, there is a discussion about our favorite yogurt flavors. There are some great recommendations there, so if you are tired of strawberry, raspberry and berry berry, like I am, be sure to check it out. With this in mind, I decided to seek out some more exotic flavors, and came across Trader Joe's Matcha Green Tea Lowfat Yogurt.
Matcha is a fine, brightly colored green tea powder made from the youngest tea leaves picked during the first few harvesting days. If you like lightly sweetened yogurts, then you will like this. The yogurt is a vibrant green color, and has a smooth but not overly thick texture. But the fact that it wasn't very sweet at all was a bit of a shock to my system - yes I am used to eating the sweet American style variety and I like it that way. There is a discussion thread about this very yogurt over at ChowHound.com, and most folks were huge fans.

There is a lot of buzz about Enviga - and it hasn't even come out to the market yet. It is slated for release in November 2006, but IateApie had got you covered with a revview. Enviga is a joint effort between Coca Cola and Nestle. The main selling point is that it is a calorie burning drink due to "a combination of green tea and caffeine in a drink that invigorates metabolism to increase calorie burning."
There are many skeptics and here are my thoughts:
So how does it taste? Enviga Sparkling Green Tea tastes more like an energy drink than a traditional soda. There are 3 flavors: peach, berry and green tea. I liked the green tea flavor the least - and the peach and berry flavors do little to mask the strong limey, energy drink /caffeine taste. I didn't like the taste at first, but when I was unknowingly reaching for the 2nd can that day, I realised two things: 1). I got used to the taste quite quickly and actually didn't mind it; and 2). I was influenced by the marketing hype about burning calories because by God, I will take any help I can get!
Do I believe it burns calories? According to Coca Cola, your body will burn 60-100 more calories from drinking 3 cans of Enviga daily (there is no effect if you drink more). I would like to see more studies to prove the effect. The one they cite involves only 35 people - come on scientists, you know you can't draw conclusions from such a small study. Check out this [link] for more details about the study. But I do believe it is possible and since a 12 ounce can of Enviga is only 5 calories, it's not like you are going to be ingesting a lot of calories anyway.
Will you lose weight by drinking this? Absolutely not. Hit the gym people! But, if you exchange 3 cans of regular soda for this, you are saving more than 200 calories per day.

AriZona is quite the innovator when it comes to non-carbonated bevergaes. Arizona Pomegranate Green Tea harnesses the antioxidant power from pomegranate and green tea, both of which are good sources. It has a refreshing taste, which is not very sweet and with a slight tartness and taste of pomegranate.
The Pomegranate Green tea is not a 'diet' drink so they are no artificial sweeteners in it. Instead they use a combination of high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) and honey - 18 grams of sugars per 8 ounce servings and the bottles are either 16 or 20 ounce, which means there are 36 or 45 grams of sugar per bottle. That's a lot - like 10 teaspoons of sugar! There is also 70 calories per serving - which means 140 to 175 calories per bottle.
