Ben & Jerry's Low Fat Cherry Garcia FroYo
Call me crazy, but Ben & Jerry's isn't normally one of my go-to ice cream brands. I love the fun and creative names of their flavors, but the ice cream itself is most often chock full of fat and calories. Fortunately, their line of FroYo (frozen yogurt) is low-fat, so I was willing to try Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia FroYo.
The Cherry Garcia FroYo base has a mild pink color that reflects its natural coloring. The cherries themselves were very sweet that looked and tasted natural as well. The chocolate flakes actually took a back seat to the cherries for me ... when has this ever happened?! This FroYo did have an icy feel to it, but altogether, it is a tasty, cold treat.

I'm automatically drawn to frozen yogurt in the supermarket, so I had to try the Blue Bell Banana Split Nonfat Frozen Yogurt. The Blue Bell brand has a very limited variety of lowfat/ nonfat options, so I was eager to try out this creative flavor.
What I found was a nice pale yellow color and a creamy texture. To round out the banana split flavor, there were also chocolate and cherry swirls in the frozen yogurt. With these features, I was already satisfied, but what makes this frozen yogurt really unique is the addition of real fruit pieces, including banana, pineapple, and maraschino cherries. The combination of frozen yogurt and actual fruit felt like getting two snacks in one. Yum, yum, yum

Blue Bunny Strawberry Cheesecake Fat Free Frozen Yogurt
Cheesecake is one thing that makes me swoon. I eat it, slowly, savoring every rich, delicious bite one mouthful at a time. But alas, the calories, the fat - yikes! This makes it only a special occasion type of thing (that and the fact that not just any cheesecake will satisfy my palate). My love of good cheesecake is seconded by my love of ice cream & frozen yogurt. Combining the two to make a delicious dessert - well, that would mean that Blue Bunny Strawberry Cheesecake Fat Free Frozen Yogurt would have a lifelong fan.
Blue Bunny - I love the sleek, elliptical shape of the packaging. The frozen yogurt does indeed tasted like cheesecake, and there was just the right amount of strawberry swirl. Every now and then, I tasted a little more iciness than creaminess, but the frozen yogurt was fairly creamy considering it's fat free.

It's been a hot and humid week, and after the 3rd day I decided it was time to hit up the supermarket and purchase some snacks that would help me beat the late night heat. I grabbed the Strawberry-Banana variety of Edy's Smoothie Real Fruit and Yogurt Bars, and tried it later that night. It was absolutely heavenly.
The bars have a smooth, creamy, rich taste that made me moan with pleasure. And Edy's backs up their "real fruit" statement on their packaging by making strawberries the 2nd item on the ingredients list. But my mouth and taste buds can also confirm this, because I was reveling in the strawberry pieces that would appear at just the right moment to add a fruity finish to what is a perfect way to cool out on a hot summer night.

I have this complex about eating fat free dairy products. You see, aside from a few exceptions (Skim Milk, Yoplait Light Yogurt [read the review], Laughing Cow Cheese [review]), I think that all things that are fat free and dairy taste something like rubber. Just thinking about products like fat free Kraft Singles, and fat free cottage cheese just gives me the heebie jeebies. So, when I was perusing the frozen foods aisle at the local Winn-Dixie, fat free frozen yogurt was definitely not at the top of my list. However, I am a girl that likes a bargain and Kemps Fat Free Frozen yogurt was on sale for $1.99; cheap enough for me to challenge my stereotype of fat free dairy products and take the Kemp's Fro-Yo home.
Upon opening the carton of Kemp's Fro-Yo, I was extremely disappointed to discover a thin layer of ice crystals on the top of the yogurt. Still, I decided to overlook this because it is quite possible that this ice formation happened en route to Winn-Dixie or home to my house.
A second discouraging fact about the Kemp's Fro-Yo was the color: it was just ... not right. The color was fake looking light, watered down brown, not like the hue I think a deliciously creamy chocolate ice cream /fro-yo should be.
The third bone that I have to pick with the Kemp's Chocolate Fro-Yo was the texture. It was super hard to scoop. It was like super compacted in the carton and when I finally managed to scoop some out, it came out in chunks rather than nice, smooth scoops. (And FYI- I even tried the running the spoon under hot water technique!)

Yoplait Frozen Yogurt and Cereal Bars are "vanilla lowfat yogurt with raspberry sorbet and fortified cereal wafers." This is a new product from Yoplait, and since Yoplait makes my favorite low fat yogurt, I had no doubt that I would like this. The bars have a thick frozen yogurt and sorbet middle layer, and the top and bottom is a waffle crust. In other words, this is a thick, ice cream sandwich like treat, only instead of the ice cream, there is frozen yogurt and sorbet, and instead of a cookie outer layer, Yoplait makes it look like a waffle.
When you bite into the bar, you get the taste of cereal and frozen yogurt. There cereal layer does not get soggy, and instead it is a hard but chewy crust which is an excellent compliment to the smooth, creamy, frozen yogurt mixed with the fruity taste from the raspberry sorbet. You also end up biting into small clusters of what I think might be cereal, which is a nice unexpected surprise. There are no clues in the ingredients as to exactly is in the cluster, or if this was even intentional - but regardless, it worked to improve the flavor for me by providing a nice bit of contrasting texture.
My only complaint was that the some of the sorbet settled on one end of the bar, so instead of a nice 'swirl' there was a glob of it at one end. This made the milky, creamy yogurt taste stand out more than the raspberry, until the last few bites when there was a not so pleasant concentration of icy fruit sorbet. I still liked this bar better than the other Yoplait Yogurt and Cereal Bar I reviewed - the one that looked like a fudgesicle, but instead of fudge there was cold cereal [read the review].

It has been HOT these past few days, but thankfully I discovered the frozen dessert treat, WholeFruit Frozen Yogurt and Sorbet Swirl . I LOVED this product
and could not believe that I had not discovered this "frozen yogurt and sorbet" before. Although the frozen yogurt cups are kept in the freezer it just glides right onto your spoon when you scoop out a taste, and that first taste is delicious (and so are the subsequent mouthfuls). It tastes like a smooth blend of soft serve vanilla yogurt mixed in with the fruity taste of peaches or raspberries. I tried both and while they both tasted great, the peaches really complemented the taste of the vanilla yogurt.
