Gerber Graduates For Toddlers Cinnamon Graham Animal Crackers

Gerber Graduates For Toddlers Cinnamon Graham Animal CrackersWAIT...don't stop reading; you at the right website and yes, I am reviewing Gerber Graduates For Toddlers Cinnamon Graham Animal Crackers. I have had (and reviewed) many a graham and animal cracker in my lifetime Health Valley Graham Crackers and my favorite, Annie's All Natural Honey Bunny Grahams, however, there is always room for a new member in the animal cracker family. I was looking around and spotted Gerber Graduates For Toddlers Cinnamon Graham Animal Crackers for $1.30 ... Score!

I would have never thought to have these, and I would definitely have been missing out. These crunchy critters are thicker, more flavorful and have more texture than any other animal or graham cracker I have ever tasted. They are thick and dense with a nice snap and soften perfectly within your mouth. The cinnamon graham flavor is prevalent and spot on.

Erin Baker's Breakfast Cookies

Erin Baker Breakfast CookiesI discovered Erin Baker's Breakfast Cookies after seeing various individuals rave about them on food blogs. After trying them myself, I am ready to rave as well because these cookies are amazing! One plus is that they freeze very well, which makes these no preservative added treats last a lifetime (well - actually only for about a year). I take them straight out of the freezer and snap them in half - no muscle men needed as they do not get rock hard - and then warm them up in the microwave for about 30 seconds. The result is a dense, fudgy treat. The texture is phenomenal - literally like a brownie.

The 12 delicious flavor-packed varieties I enjoyably consumed:
Banana Walnut: The fresh banana puree makes for a chewy banana addition to the overall texture of the cookie (similar to homemade banana bread). The walnuts are certainly not the stars of the show, but do make an appearance. For banana lovers, this cookie is an absolute must.
Caramel Apple: The dried apple bits provide a subtle apple taste, which merges with the little pockets of caramel to deliver the perfect level of sweetness in each bite. I do'nt think of a caramel apple while eating it though.
Chocolate Chunk (Vegan): If you like chocolate, look no further. It is chock full of noticeably big chocolate chunks that melt smoothly in your mouth (if you choose to pop it in the microwave first).
Chocolate Chunk Raisin: A beyond-average oatmeal raisin cookie with smooth Belgian chocolate chunks mixed in. Your mouth will thank you!
Double Chocolate Chunk: Whole grains, oatmeal, cocoa and Belgian chocolate chunks together at last.
Fruit and Nut: A warm, gooey combination of plump raisins and chunky walnuts. It has a bit of a trail mix "flavor" to it, if that's possible.
Lemon Berry: This cookie is particularly sticky from what appears to be a fruit jelly oozing out. The lemon flavor melds well with all of the fruity hints and creates a very sweet and refreshing medley in your mouth. Not a personal favorite, but good nonetheless.
Mocha Cappuccino: A noticeable infusion of coffee in a dense, fudgy oatmeal cookie. Coffee and chocolate lovers will rejoice.
Oatmeal Raisin: Deliciously and naturally sweet from the plump juicy raisins mixed throughout (this flavor is on the lower end of the fat count too).
Peanut Butter: Peanut Butter Heaven accompanied by the occasional peanut that brings a sense of natural peanut flavor. Eat it cold and it tastes like PB cookie dough...hello!
Peanut Butter Chocolate Chunk (Vegan): The famous combo is back with a bang. Vegan or not, these are amazing (no change in the fudgy texture either). They are on the higher end of the fat spectrum, but in a healthy way from the peanut butter and chunks of peanuts (and completely worth it).
Peanut Butter & Jelly: The delicious sandwich combo never falters, even in a cookie.

Kashi TLC Oatmeal Dark Chocolate Cookie

Kashi TLC Oatmeal Dark Chocolate CookieIf you want to win me over, all you have to do is bake me some homemade chocolate chip cookies. I cannot recall a time in my life I have ever turned down a fresh, warm, chocolate chip cookie. Keeping this in mind, I realize that any packaged cookie especially one made with healthy ingredients, will inevitably not taste as good as homemade, but I have tried to keep an open mind and give them a fair chance anyway.

When I spotted Kashi TLC Oatmeal Dark Chocolate Cookies in my campus convenience store, I was very excited. I had high expectations because of Kashi's great reputation in the healthy food market. I was very pleased with these cookies. They were definitely sweet enough to kill a chocolate craving, but they had a heartier, healthier taste that I enjoyed. Don't expect these cookies to taste like full-fat homemade cookies, but if you're looking for a tasty packaged cookie, these fit the bill. They are both soft and chewy, the way an oatmeal cookie should be.

Now to the cons. I wished they had come in individual packages instead of a whole package, because it makes it more difficult to eat these "on the go." I was also somewhat disheartened by the calorie count, since these cookies are not very large.

Krusteaz Gingerbread Cake & Cookie Mix

Having had prior experience with the delicious taste of Krusteaz Fat Free Muffin Mixes (check out our reviews of the Wild Blueberry and Cranberry Orange), I decided to turn my attention to the Krusteaz Gingerbread Cake & Cookie Mix.

I followed the directions - hard to mess up adding 1 egg and 1 cup of water and heat for 35 minutes - and out popped a perfectly baked cake. Five minutes later, my family was migrating to the kitchen to see what creation I had made (and if they could have some). Even before I opened the oven door, a heavenly gingerbread aroma was wafting through our entire house. Honestly, I would purchase this product simply for the wonderful aroma that fills the house (up AND downstairs). The texture is very cake-like, not too dense and not too airy. Furthermore, each bite is moist and not overly sweet. Each delicious bite tastes like ... gingerbread! The sugar, molasses and various spices combine to form a phenomenal gingerbread flavor.

Personally, I would rather have a warm square of this scrumptious gingerbread cake than a wimpy 100 calorie pack with a few cookies (and I'm talking about the Entenmann's Little Bites 100 Calorie Pack Chocolate Chip Squares which I previously reviewed).

Entenmann's Little Bites 100 Calorie Pack Chocolate Chip Squares

Entenmann's Little Bites 100 Calorie Pack Chocolate Chip SquaresEntenmann's is not known for providing diet-friendly foods, but they made an attempt to slide into the "junk food made healthier by selling 100 calorie packs of little more than air" World with their Entenmann's Little Bites 100 Calorie Packs. I picked up the Chocolate Chip Squares in the hopes that I might be wrong.

I am torn between these SMALL desserts. First of all, these soft baked chocolate chip squares are dense and chewy like fresh baked cookies. They are so sinfully delicious! That being said, each 6.5 ounce box contains 8 little packs with 5 little cookie bites each. Entenmann's Little Bites 100 Calorie Pack Chocolate Chip SquaresAs you can see in the picture, each square is just about the size of a Life Saver mint. I don't think could even satisfy my cravings, and nobody but a child can eat these and not look around for something else to eat in 5 minutes.

Quaker Morning Minis: Cinnamon Sugar & Oats Cookies

Quaker Morning MinisQuaker previously came out with a Breakfast Cookie which I thought was Diettrash (read the review). Seriously, a cookie - for breakfast? I don't care if has 20% of the RDA for fiber, a cookie should never be considered a breakfast item. In fact, I can get almost 3x the fiber (and less calories) from 1 cup of Fiber One Cereal.

Thankfully, Quaker decided to put another spin on the whole breakfast cookie thing, and came up with Quaker Morning Minis, which are also supposed to be a good source of fiber. These are, according to Quaker, "chewy, bite sized cookies" but actually they look more like little chunks of cookie. I bought a box of the Cinnamon Sugar & Oats variety, which comes with 6 pouches with 5 mini-cookies each.

They were sweet, but the combination of a heavy oats and cinnamony flavor was not what I would describe as delicious. In fact, these can't touch(Uncle Wally's Smart Portion Oatmeal Raisins Cookies in terms of taste.

Uncle Wally's Smart Portion Oatmeal Raisins Cookies

Uncle Wally's Smart Portion CookiesThe lure of the "low fat and made with whole grains" on the label of Uncle Wally's Smart Portion Cookies pulled me in. Additionally, they also come in 100 portion packs, which totally sold me. I bought a box (with 6 packs) of Oatmeal Cookies (my favorite kind). I tore into one of the packs and was a bit shocked that there were only about 7-8 small cookies about 1-1.25 inches in diameter.

Although they are small, they are definitely tasty and not too sweet. There seemed to be raisins in each one, and not a very strong oatmeal taste, which is actually a plus - I don't want my cookies to remind me of oatmeal.

Diet Trash: Murray Sugar Free Fudge Dipped Vanilla Wafers

Diet Trash is about the food products you might eat because you think you're doing something better for your diet, but you'll be surprised to know, they're not.

Murray Sugar Free Fudge Dipped Vanilla WafersSugar free products sometimes get a bad rap as being low in sugar but high in fat. That's not always the case, but in this instance, it's accurate. One serving of Murray Sugar Free Fudge Dipped Vanilla Wafers is 4 cookies that has 30% of the RDA for saturated fat, 2 grams of trans fat and 15% of the RDA for total fat.

Diet TrashTrans fat can be treated like saturated fat for the purpose of the nutrition facts added up to 40% of the RDA. This may be sugar free but it is certainly not something that you should eat if you're on a diet. You're better off getting York Sugar Free Peppermint Patties which has less fat.

Organic Healthy Handfuls Oatmeal Raisin Crocodile Cookies

Healthy Handfuls CookiesHealthy Handfuls is a company created by two moms, that makes organic snacks without high fructose corn syrup, preservatives and artificial colors. The Oatmeal Raisin Crocodile Cookies was in such a colorful little box that I decided to give it a try. Thankfully, the cookies come in a single serving box or pouch, so there's no chance to over eat - I love built in portion control!

The cookies are bite-sized and simply delicious! There is no difference in taste between these and any other cookies that I've had before - and that's a good thing, because the difference is in the ingredients! Whole wheat flour, evaporated cane juice, oats, safflower oil, raisins, honey, glycerine, guar gum, leavenings, cinnamon, sea salt and vanilla extract (all organic). Compare that list with other cookies and I bet most people would choose these every time.

Kashi Tasty Little Cookies: Happy Trail Mix

You should all know that Kashi is one of my favorite brands because they always have high quality ingredients and they are usually wholesome with a focus on being healthier than most. So when they put out a cookie - one of the most not-so-nutritious products out there - I wasn't too thrilled about it. I thought - leave that to Oreos and those guys! But after giving it further thought, I had to applaud Kashi for trying to make one of the most ... not-so-nutritious products ... a little healthier. A healthier cookie - can it be done?

I tried the Kashi TLC Happy Trail Mix Cookie and I loved it! It was chewy and I could taste all oats and other grains that Kashi uses (7 whole grains), along with walnuts, raisins and cranberries. It wasn't as sweet as I was expecting, but it was still very, very good.

This cookie was tasty and I can honestly say it seemed like it was rich in ingredients, but I did not like the fact that there were 130 calories in 1 cookie. But at least the calories are all from healthy natural ingredients, so I'm not too mad. I take one cookie with me and have it as an after-lunch snack - and the cookie is bog and thick (about 2.5 inches in diameter and half an inch thick).

Special K Strawberry Snack Bites

Kelloggs Snack Bites Kellogg' s has heavily promoted it's Special K challenge: Replace 2 meals with a serving of one of the Special K cereals and fruit. You are also allowed snacks and Kellogg's wants to handle that too, so they recently introduced the Special K Snack Bites. The Snack Bites are packaged in individual pouches which "feature clusters of lightly textured, multi-grain Special K cereal with a touch of vanilla or strawberry flavors."

I tried the Strawberry Snack Bites and I thought they were like a sweet (think cookie type sweetness), crunchy, crispy, thin, bite size cookie /chip. And it also seemed like each and every chip had a piece of strawberry in it too. I wouldn't go so far as to say that they are 'healthy' but if you are trying to reduce your calorie intake, and you have no control (like me) over the amount you will eat, then the convenient '90 calorie' pouches are great, because you know the exact nutrition of what you are eating.

TastyKake Sensables Sugar Free Chocolate Chocoalate Chip Soft Cookie Bar

TastyKake Sensables Tastykake Sensables is a new sugar-free line of snacks from TastyKake. I tried the chocolate chocolate chip cookie bar, but they also make chocolate chip cookie bars as well as chocolate chip and orange finger cakes. The TastyKake double chocolate chip bar has a deep brown chocolatey color and I could see quite a few pieces of chocolate chips too. Maybe that is why I was expecting it to be very sweet, and I was somewhat disappointed when I tasted it and it wasn't as sweet as I expected. I think my expectation may have clouded my judgement a little since my 10 year old cousin tried it and loved it! She didn't think it wasn't sweet enough, and she especially loved the chocolate chips.

But if you're thinking you are going to have a low calorie treat for your kids with these TastyKake double chocolate chip bars, think again! There are 1.5 grams of trans fat in each bar. Most people who eat sugar free products are concerned about their health or have health issues, so I expect companies that make sugar free products should not use ingredients that promote health problems! Find an alternative. There are also 2.5 grams of saturated fat and if you add the trans fat to this, you would be getting 20% of the daily requirement of saturated fat (I add them together since trans fat is just as bad for your health (if not worse) as saturated fat).

Diet Trash: Quaker Breakfast Cookies

Quaker Breakfast Cookie I love Quaker - really I do. Quaker Rice Snacks is one of my top healthy crunchy snacks, and even though oatmeal is not my favorite thing in the world, I do enjoy the Quaker Instant Oatmeal. So I had high hopes for Quaker Breakfast Cookies - at least until I actually got hold of them.

Diet Trash I am not sure what I should have expected. They do use the word cookie after all - so I should have known something was up. The more I thought about it, the more I wondered - what exactly is a "breakfast" cookie? I tried the Oatmeal Raisin variety, and let me tell you - it is no different from a regular cookie. The term "breakfast cookie" is really no more than a marketing gimmick. An AzCentral article quoted Ann Mukherjee, vice president of marketing at parent company Pepsi, as saying "Despite their name, Quaker Breakfast Cookies are not a breakfast replacement but a midmorning snack." [link] That alone wasn't enough to make me consider this diet trash though. It was the 180 calories per 48 gram cookie that really put it over the top for me.

Instead of reaching for a Quaker Breakfast Cookie for breakfast, which certainly wouldn't fill me up, try a bowl of Quaker Instant Oatmeal (160 calories) or any cereal such as Kashi Organic Promise Strawberry Fields Cereal (120 calories for 1 cup). If it is a sweet snack you want, you are better off with Weight Watchers Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Icing (80 calories, less fat and sugar) or Kashi Trail Mix Granola Bar (130 calories).

Milano Sugar Free Cookies

Milano Cookies Milano cookies are just plain excellent. Fortunately for me, God did not bless me with a sweet tooth, but if he did, Milano cookies would be my weakness. Milano Distinctive Cookies have 180 calories 10 grams of fat, and 11 grams of sugars for a 3 cookie serving size. Milano Sugar Free Cookies have 170 calories, 9 grams of fat, no sugars but 6 grams of sugar alcohols and a little added sucralose [brand name: Splenda] per serving (3 cookies). Not much difference really, except for the sugars, but still a lot of fat from just 3 cookies. I think this is one case where sugar free doesn't mean a whole lot!

Snackwell's Sugar Free Oreo Cookies

Snackwell's OreosThe first thing that actually drew my attention to these cookies was the fact that on the box, it says, "Sugar Free, Not for Weight Control ..." I found it amusing that this needed to be written on the packaging, but I can certainly understand it, what with all the lawsuits against food companies these days. In fact, I think the name of this product might be "Sugar Free Not For Weight Control Snackwell's Oreo Chocolate Sandwich Cookies" since that appears on the box at least three times. That was a mouthful.

If you compare these cookies to regular Oreos, then I think the regular Oreos will definitely come out on top. But I thought the sugar free Oreos did a decent job in standing up to it's big brother in terms of taste. The outer cookie part of the sugar free version is much crisper and less sweet, but the creamy center tastes about the same as the regular ones in my opinion. Put the entire sugar free Oreo in your mouth, and you can definitely tell the difference between this sugar free version, and the regular, but I think this is definitely worthy of a try.

Murray Sugar Free Vanilla Wafers

Murray's Sugar Free Wafers Murray's is Keeblers sugar free line of products. They include sugar free cookies, grahams and wafers in many different varieties. I really enjoy their products, especially the wafers which is what we are reviewing. These wafers are absolutely delicious. You don't miss the sugar, which they have replaced with sugar alcohols. But you know the old saying, "if it's too good to be true, it probably is." Sad to say, the only drawback with these sugar free wafers, is that you can't eat too many wafers at once. Let me repeat this, DO NOT EAT A LOT AT ONE TIME! How much depends on your stomach, but let me assure you, that I spent the entire night in the bathroom. I knew it before hand, - it's a well known fact that sugar alcohols cause tummy 'issues' but knowing didn't stop me, and I paid the price! Nevertheless, if you can handle not being greedy, like I was, you will certainly enjoy this sugar free treat.
