Teriyaki Shrimp Stir Fry No-Recipe Recipe

shrimpstirfry1.jpg

Shrimp is one low calorie food that gets a bad rap. It is high in cholesterol (about 82% per 100 grams (19 piece) serving), but it is a good source of protein providing 13 grams per serving along with less than 1 gram of fat, no carbohydrates - and all for only 60 calories (source).

The other day, I was thinking about making some shrimp, and it so happened that I received a bottle of San-J Gluten Free Teriyaki Stir-Fry and Marinade Sauce. I decided that I would be doing one of my quick 30 minute meals.

    INGREDIENTS (makes 4 servings)
  • Shrimp (A 14 ounce bag of frozen pre-cooked shrimp - THAWED)
  • San-J Gluten Free Teriyaki Stir-Fry and Marinade Sauce (1/2 cup)
  • Frozen Vegetables (A 16 ounce mixed bag with broccoli, cauliflower & carrots).
  • PREPARATION

  • Place thawed shrimp in a deep bowl and add the San-J Teriyaki Stir-Fry Sauce. Mix together thoroughly and let it sit marinating for 30 minutes
Add the shrimp & San-J Teriyaki sauce mixture to a deep pot, pre-heated and set on medium.
  • After 10 minutes, add the frozen vegetables (straight from the bag) - no need to stir it in. Cover the pot and let it cook for another 5-7 minutes.
  • Stir everything together, and you're all set to serve.

Like I said before, this is really a no-recipe recipe because you can add any amount of the ingredients you want, and use any of your favorite vegetables in the stir-fry. The San-J Gluten Free Teriyaki Stir-Fry and Marinade SauceSan-J Gluten Free Teriyaki Stir-Fry and Marinade Sauce is a little on the mild side, and is not salty at all, which I appreciated - look for a more in-depth review soon.

I also had my Teriyaki Shrimp Stir-Fry with brown rice as you can see from the pictures. While I normally use Minute Instant Brown Rice, I bought a different brand last time I was at the grocery store. I used Uncle Ben's Natural Whole Grain Brown Rice and it, along with the entire meal, was delish! What's your favorite way to prepare shrimp?!
