Every Friday it's New Product Notes time. These are the new food products with a nutritional claim that are launching or due to be launched very soon, and that go into my line-up of products I want to review here on Iateapie.net.

Function Drinks has launched a new Function: Alternative Energy flavor, strawberry guava, and a new Function: Light Weight flavor, peach mango. Alternative Energy, Strawberry Guava, is an all-natural, non-carbonated, time-release energy drink that reportedly works to support the body for six hours to eight hours.

Function: Light Weight, Peach Mango employs a powerhouse formula consisting of resveratrol and the green tea extract, Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) to increase and support the body's natural calorie burning abilities, as well as gymnema extract, which supports the body in naturally curbing sugar cravings and helps maintain normal carbohydrate metabolism and control.

Jones Soda Co. New Jones GABA, a tea-juice blend in single-serve 12 fluid ounce cans with the amino acid GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid). Jones partnered with Mitsubishi Corp. and Pharma Foods International to bring natural PharmaGABA, shown to improve mental focus, balance and clarity while reducing stress, to the U.S. market. Jones GABA is 100% natural, fair-trade and each can, which contains 150mg of PharmaGABA, ranges from 80 to 90 calories, depending on the flavors, which include Fuji Apple, Lemon Honey, Nectarine and Grapefruit (suggested retail price is $2.99).

Weight Watchers. There are 13 new products in several categories including sweet baked goods, frozen novelties and cheeses. More here.

Nature's Pride. The first 100% natural brand of breads baked without artificial flavors, colors or preservatives, no high fructose corn syrup and no trans fats. Surprisingly, it's produced by Interstate Bakeries Corp., makers of Wonder Bread. Nature's Pride Premium Hearty Breads in 24 oz. packages include: 100% Whole Wheat; 12-Grain; Healthy Multi-Grain; Country White; Double Fiber; Stone Ground Whole Wheat with Honey; Country Potato and Butter Milk. Nature's Pride Traditional Soft Breads (20 oz.) include: 100% Whole Wheat and Honey Wheat.

Applegate Farms. New gluten-free breaded chicken nuggets will be available in May. "The new chicken nuggets are frozen, fully cooked and may be heated in the microwave or oven. The product will be available in 8-oz packages for $5.99." Applegate Farms already has nearly 100 gluten-free products.
