We reviewed Kraft Handi Snacks in 2007, and while it got just a 3.5/5 rating - mostly for the heavy handed use of sugar alc0hols (7 grams per serving) - it was a useful products for diabetics and vegans, since it doesn't use gelatin.

I am diabetic and just love this product. I live in Kansas and to my dismay suddenly there is not one store that now carries this product and I cannot find anyone who can give me a good reason why. All they have is Hunts and it has such a terrible after taste I can't eat it. I am extremely upset. I called Kraft and they say its the distributor and the distributor says its Kraft. If I could find one store and just order a couple cases a month it would surely help. I just don't understand here one day and gone the next with no answer at all.

Sorry to tell you Barb (and Susanne), but Kraft Handi Snacks is being discontinued, and I can't even find it online.

"The phase-out of Handi-Snacks puddings and Kool-Aid gels, a gelatin product modeled after Kool-Aid drink mix, started in December 2008 after domestic revenue from the two lines had fallen by a third since 2005, according to company spokeswoman Renee Zahery. Kraft and other food companies, from Sara Lee Food Corp. to H.J. Heinz Co., are cutting less profitable brands to focus on their higher-margin, best-selling brands and retain consumers, who are trading down in the recession.
