Merisant had seen market share decline in recent years amid competition from rival sweeteners, including Splenda. The filing came less than a month after federal regulators cleared the way for PepsiCo's launch of drinks with PureVia, a Stevia based sweetener it developed with Merisant - who said it will still go ahead with its planned launch of PureVia in partnership with PepsiCo [Source]. Do you use Equal as a sweetener? I wonder how many people do. Personally, I have long since switched to Splenda - Equal had an awful bitter taste if you used more than 1 packet. I must confess that I am getting sucked in by the hype, and as soon as Truvia hits my local grocery stores, I may switch to it (assuming it's not more expensive than Splenda).

I tried Stevia and found it no better than Equal or Splenda from a taste point of view. In fact, I found it altered the taste of my coffee more than the others - this of course is just my opinion.
