So sad indeed. I say we vegetarians demand a more reasonable explanation. I, for one, will buy no more Van's products until this information is forthcoming.

I eat meat and my wife is a vegetarian. I LOVE Veat and I'm very sad that its no longer part of our meals. It's tragic actually.

We made stir fry, green chili, pesto pasta....just a few meals that will not longer taste the same because of this "unforeseen interruption in ingredient supply". I say to Van's.....You need to TRY harder to find another ingredient distributor! People love this product and millions of recipes will never be the same.

I agree! I am so upset by this--it is bizarre. I make vegetarian Buffalo wings with Veat and they are AMAZING! Hard-core carnivores beg me to bring them to parties! They should definitely work harder to find a distributor. We should write to them and demand a better response.

It is so hard for us vegetarians to find products that we can eat, and then have it taken away. What does that mean, "unforeseen interruption in ingredient supply". Are you trying to replace whatever ingredient that is?

I'm so disappointed that Veat has been discontinued. I've used it for years for tacos, tortilla soup, and veggie stir fry. I've tried other chicken substitutes and they don't come close to Veat. Even our non-veggie friends love it. Is there anything we can do to change your mind about discontinuing it? From the posted comments, Veat had many loyal supporters and now we have to go through the process of finding a substitute for it (which won't be easy).

My husband is a vegetarian and I am not but ANYTHING you could do with chicken I could do with VEAT. He does not like the other products and this is very hard on us! It really is difficult. I hope they will re-consider and bring it back. I don't get their explanation, you don't discontinue a product because of an unforeseen INTERRUPTION of ingredient supply. It may become back ordered but not discontinued!

I drove all over our city last night looking for Veats bites. I sadly came to the conclusion on my own that they must have gone out of business. No other product even comes close to Veats bites and nuggets. I am going through total withdrawel.

I'm also devastated by this tragic ending of Veat Breast and Veat Salmon. I eat both at least once a week. I have a limited number of items that I can find to eat to begin with (i'm a vegetarian) and these were the best tasting & easiest items to prepare. I can't imagine how or what I am going to survive on now. Please bring it back!!

I have found something JUST LIKE VEAT BREAST. It looks very much like Veat Breast and tastes exactly like it. It's called "Tasty Chicken" and is made by May Wah. Order it at wwwVegieWorld.com. Much of May Wah's stuff has a weird sweet-spice taste that I really don't like, but not this. This is great.

After searching in vain for several months for Veat, I finally looked online and found others' sad comments on its discontinuation. I'm so extremely disappointed about this!!! I LOVE Veat in winter soups and stir-frys, summer kabobs, quesadillas, etc., especially the bites, but the cubes and breasts are awesome too! PLEASE PLEASE bring it back! It was the BEST veggie chicken we have ever had, and now there is nothing that compares!

I am just going to add my vote to all the others. There is no other product that comes close to Veat in terms of taste, texture and usefulness. I beg you to bring this product back. You certainly have to see that your fan base is not only loyal but dependent on your product to create the kinds of meals that people who try to avoid meat want to make. Please! Please!

If this product came back on the market, I would use more of it and talk it up with people, just to help keep it around! It is that good.

My wife and I along with our 5 children love Veat along with everyone else that wrote in. I agree that you should try harder and as a business venture maybe consider the value of Veat. I can't find any Veat replacement but for all that have written in there is a company called May Wah that gets close to what Veat had to offer. Also, Morning Star Farms is a major vegetarian company that you may want to consider getting together with and building a partnership with. Get it going to get Veat back on our tables and into our bellies. Thank you!

I was a huge fan of Veat "chicken" and have been lost ever since it was discontinued. It is extremely hard to find chicken alternatives that vegetarians and meat eaters alike can enjoy and Veat accomplished this! I hope something can be worked out to allow this great product to return.

I am extremely disappointed in the discontinued Veat products. I live in Central Texas and it's hard enough being a vegetarian here (I travel 70 miles to shop for veggie foods) without my major food source being canceled. My question is, "What possible ingredient in Veat cannot be found?"

The only "ingredient" Van's seems to be lacking is the brains to find another source of supply. Don't tell me nobody in this great big wide world makes what you need to produce this?

You can still get the 'veat chicken breast' (and other forms) in a different package/name. It is put out by an Asian company(s) not sure of the name but it is EXACTLY the same product. It is frozen in a clear plastic shrinkwrap packaging, and less expensive too. I get it at the Adventist Book Center in Glendale, CA but I don't know if other ABC's would carry it. You might try the Asian food stores as suggested above.

Veat chicken is the best vegetarian chicken substitute I've ever tasted. Van's Int'l has made a BIG, BIG, BIG mistake by discontinuing it. I've tried many other brands, but there is no comparison. Just spent Christmas with Quorn chicken and it was yucky! Bring Veat back....NOW!

I have found a product that is astoundingly like the late, lamented Veat. It is called “Vege Chicken Bites” (product #E009) and is made by May Wah. These are almost indistinguishable from Veat Gourmet Bites. May Wah also makes four chicken breasts, of which the best is “Tasty Chicken” (product # A001). You can access May Wah through www.vegiworld.com.

The products I have cited are as versatile as Veat. They will take very delicate sauces. The other May Wah products I have tried, unfortunately, have had heavy, sweet seasonings and cannot be used like Veat.

With shipping the price is comparable to the price of Veat.
